Free-agent Derrick Henry is signing a two-year, $16 million deal worth up to $20 million, including $9 million fully guaranteed in the first year with the Baltimore Ravens.

This is a truly terrifying backfield if Keaton Mitchell is fully recovered by the beginning of the season. Henry will usurp Gus Edwards' goal-line role, which led to the former Raven scoring 13 rushing touchdowns, with 12 of them coming from within the five-yard line. Henry is a top-10 back, even with a truncated role.

The Ravens have made it official with running back Melvin Gordon.

Baltimore announced on Tuesday that the club has signed Gordon to its 53-man roster.

Gordon technically replaces Keaton Mitchell on the Ravens’ 53, as he was placed on injured reserve after suffering a torn ACL during the team’s victory over Jacksonville on Sunday. Gordon has appeared in two games for Baltimore this season, taking 13 carries for 53 yards. He also caught three passes for 46 yards. Gordon will likely run behind Edwards and Hill but does have those 16 touches in two games so it's possible he jumps right into the three-man committee.

Ravens running back Keaton Mitchell’s injury was as serious as it appeared it could be on the field.

Ravens head coach John Harbaugh told reporters in his press conference following the 23-7 victory over the Jaguars that Mitchell suffered a significant knee injury that will end his 2023 season.

We'll likely get more details on the injury soon, but owners will be without Mitchell for the rest of the season. Mitchell was proving to be quite the find, perhaps especially in dynasty leagues, as he was emerging as the team's lead back and averaging 8.5 yards per carry. The hope now is Mitchell is ready to go for the 2024 season, but that remains to be seen.

Wacker said Harbaugh was asked about Mitchell only getting 4 snaps and 1 touch in the second half. Harbaugh said, “Looking back on it would we have wanted him out there more? Yea.” The post said Harbaugh added the reason why he didn't get more work had to do with being a young guy and the team still working him in. Mitchell again showed big-play ability in Week 10. He had three carries for 34 yards and a touchdown and his only reception of the game went for 32 yards. Mitchell, on three carries, out-rushed Edwards and Hill combined as they only collected 31 yards on 13 carries. Mitchell will remain a risky play outside of deeper leagues until we see him get more work on a regular basis. But if he's still on your wire, now is the time to grab him because that day could be coming soon.

Harbaugh said it will be determined which running back has the hot hand and who's not tired as far as a possible rotation or playing time goes. Mitchell will likely be a big-time pickup this week off the wire, but may not be safe for most typical fantasy lineups - at least just yet. Outside of maybe deeper leagues, it may be best to take a wait-and-see approach with Mitchell.

No one figured Beckham was going to remain healthy throughout the season but certainly didn't take him long. Edwards should be an immediate upgrade in Week 3, and should be a high-floor, low-ceiling RB2.

Ravens RB Justice Hill suffered a toe injury that could keep him out of the Week 3 matchup with the Colts but shouldn’t result in a lengthy absence. Baltimore signed vet Kenyan Drake as insurance.

If Hill is forced to miss Week 3, it would be a full-go on Gus Edwards, regardless of the Kenyan Drake signing.

Harbaugh said the team likes the guys they have and that Gordon wants to be here, likes the environment and is a proven back. It sounds like the team doesn't plan to sign an RB heading into Week 2. That likely means the team rolls with a combination of Edwards and Hill, with perhaps Gordon also getting some work. Hill had eight carries but for nine years, however, two of those carries did go for touchdowns. One would expect Hill to be the back involved in the passing game while Edwards (8-32-0) is the early down back.
