Frank Gore, who injured the ankle in the second quarter of Sunday's win over the Bengals, was limited in practice, according to the team's injury report. Reporters are allowed to watch only the first 30 minutes of 49ers practices.
Gore handled all of the 49ers' runs in the first half Sunday. But in the second half, he split carries with rookie Kendall Hunter, who scored the game's only touchdown on a seven-yard run in the fourth quarter.
Even if Gore plays against the Eagles on Sunday, he's likely to share carries with Hunter and perhaps second-year player Anthony Dixon.
The 49ers have a terrific matchup with an Eagles rush defense that has been pretty brutal against opposing RBs, so Gore and/or Hunter have a shot to make some noise in Week 4. So far, the San Francisco running game has been a big disappointment.
