Eli's finally a $100 million man

New York Daily News - [Full Article]

Eli Manning finally put his expensive signature on his even more expensive contract this morning, making his six-year, $97.5 million contract extension official and insuring that barring injury he’ll be the Giants’ franchise quarterback until 2015.
The deal, which will pay Manning $106.9 million over the next seven years, became official this morning, according to Giants VP of communications Pat Hanlon. It had been held up for nine days — an unusually long time — because of haggling over what sources said was “marketing language” in the contract.
The Giants and their quarterback have several conflicting marketing agreements. For example, Manning endorses Citizen watches, while the Giants have a marketing deal with Timex. And Manning is an endorser for DirecTV, while the Giants have a deal with Verizon.
However, both sides insisted that despite the delay, the differences were over “very, very little stuff”
