Cards Beat: Jaron Brown makes claim to WR4 job

Just look at what Jaron Brown has done this season for the Arizona Cardinals. He has three catches for 96 yards, and he’s been more reliable than J.J. Nelson. He’s stayed healthier -- this is Nelson’s second injury in his two seasons that has caused him to miss time -- and he’s been more productive on the field. Nelson has one catch this season for 11 yards.

While Nelson has speed that coach Bruce Arians covets and he’s capable of breaking free for a big game -- as he did last season in Week 11 when he had 142 yards, including a 64-yard bomb from quarterback Carson Palmer for a touchdown -- Brown has the been the model of consistency. In three-plus seasons he has 47 catches for 609 yards and five touchdowns. Not bad for an undrafted free agent.

Fantasy Impact:

The question was from a Twitter follower who asked if Brown is ahead of J.J. Nelson on the team's depth chart. With the struggles of John Brown, it's possible Jaron Brown could start to see more snaps in the future. Keep him on your fantasy radar for now.

Chargers to sign RB J.K. Dobbins on one-year deal

Former Ravens RB J.K. Dobbins is planning to sign with the #Chargers on a one-year deal. Electric when healthy, Dobbins — who averages 5.8 yards per carry in his career — reunites with OC Greg Roman and can hit the market again in March.

Fantasy Impact:

Dobbins has had poor injury luck in his career, but has only managed 234 total rushes since being drafted in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft. This is a low-risk, high-reward move by the Chargers and might give them a runway to wait a little longer in the '24 Draft before they address the position.

Cowboys sign RB Royce Freeman

The Cowboys have signed running back Royce Freeman to a one-year deal. Freeman had 319 yards on 77 carries with 2 touchdowns last year for the Los Angeles Rams. He was 3rd round pick of Denver in '18.

Fantasy Impact:

Freeman hasn't rushed for 500 yards since 2018, his rookie season. This shouldn't have any impact on the team drafting at the position and/or bringing back Ezekiel Elliott.

The Eagles have paid another big-time, rising player. This time, WR DeVonta Smith gets a 3-year, $75M contract extension that includes $51M guaranteed.
