When Kurt Warner isn't surveying the defense in front of him Sunday when the Cardinals play the visiting Packers at 2:15 p.m., he admitted he might be glancing up at the out-of-town scoreboard.
That will be a given, he said, if the New York Giants happened to beat the Minnesota Vikings earlier in the day.
That's because a Minnesota loss, coupled with an Arizona victory and a Dallas win over visiting Philadelphia in a game that also kicks off at 2:15, would give the Cardinals the No. 2 seed and a first-round bye in the NFC playoffs.
"It'll be hard not to look up there and see what's going on in that other game," Warner said after practice on Wednesday. "It's human nature."
If the Vikings win, however, it's pretty much a moot point. Of the eight possible playoff scenarios involving the NFC West champion Cardinals, six include them having to turn around and face the Packers again at home in the NFC wild-card round.
Should that be the case, the Cardinals probably would save some of their best game-planning for a rematch, and they might even consider resting some regulars, including Warner.
