Plaxico Burress' immediate football future should be clarified three weeks from tomorrow at his next court appearance. If Burress manages to avoid jail time and a lengthy suspension from Goodell, then I think the Jets are going to be serious about signing him. It makes sense from a football standpoint. He is exactly what the Jets need. But when you add the knucklehead factor into the equation, the Jets shouldn't even think about keeping him in this market. Players in Burress' situation lack leverage to get much guaranteed money, so the Jets could probably get him without much of a financial commitment. The Bears are monitoring the situation, too. There have been reports that Chicago quarterback Jay Cutler has called Burress. Tampa has also shown interest and is another possibility for Burress.
