Broncos fire coach McDaniels

Josh McDaniels has been fired as head coach of the Denver Broncos, the team confirmed Monday.

McDaniels, who was the main person involved in player acquisition, took the job as head coach in 2009. He got off to a 6-0 start but the team has lost 17 of the past 20 games since then. The Broncos are 3-9 this season after their 10-6 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs Sunday.

A week ago, Broncos owner Pat Bowlen said he was keeping McDaniels as a coach in 2011 and that there would be no change. These comments came after McDaniels was fined $50,000 because his videographer was caught taping a San Francisco 49ers walkthrough in London.

McDaniels is the third coach fired this season, joining Wade Phillips and Brad Childress.

The team did not immediately name an interim coach.

Fantasy Impact:

We'll have to see how this impacts fantasy players on the Broncos. Could Tim Tebow see more time, will there be more focus on the running game, which could take away from guys like Orton and Lloyd...?
