BREAKING: Hakeem Nicks to miss time

The Giants' receiving corps is about to be further depleted.

Hakeem Nicks will be out of action with a lower leg injury, according to two people with knowledge of the health of the Giants' leading receiver. The people requested anonymity because all injury reports are to be officially announced by Giants coach Tom Coughlin.

The exact nature of the injury and the timetable for Nicks' recovery are unclear, but Coughlin is set to speak with reporters this afternoon.

Nicks has had a few ankle injuries this season, but nothing so severe that it has knocked him out of action.

Fantasy Impact:

The reports on just how long are sketchy right now, but three weeks seems to be a pretty common. Mario Manningham was already worth picking up but he now becomes the Giants WR1 is both Nicks and Steve Smith are out next week. Derek Hagan, who caught a TD last week, and Duke Calhoun, who made his first catch last week, are next in line.
