Belief is Tony Romo has back contusion

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo re-entered Monday night’s game against the Washington Redskins late in the fourth quarter after leaving with an apparent upper-body injury in the third quarter.

Romo was sacked midway through the third quarter. Romo, who reached for his back immediately after the hit by Washington linebacker Keenan Robinson, remained on his back for several minutes as he talked with team trainers and a team doctor.

Romo was slowly rolled on his side before he sat up and walked off under his own power. The Cowboys quarterback then headed directly to the locker room to be evaluated. He returned to the sideline midway through the fourth quarter. He threw several passes on the sideline in full pads with his helmet on.

After the game, coach Jason Garrett said Romo has back contusion and X-rays were negative.

Fantasy Impact:

Romo was due to have an MRI on his back Tuesday. According to ESPN's Ed Werder, pain tolerance and functional ability will now be key for Romo going forward. It's certainly a situation to monitor if you count on Romo as your fantasy QB.
