49ers RB Carlos Hyde (concussion) not cleared, expected to play Week 1

With starting running back Carlos Hyde working his way back from a concussion, the San Francisco 49ers took some by surprise when they decided to keep just three running backs on their initial 53-man roster.

The logical conclusion, then, was that Hyde was on pace to get through the necessary tests and be cleared to play against the Los Angeles Rams on Sept. 12. As it turned out, while Hyde remains in the concussion protocol, he does indeed appear to be on track to start the opener, according to coach Chip Kelly.

Fantasy Impact:

Kelly added he would be surprised if anything held Hyde back from playing Week 1. Injuries have prevented him from breaking out in either of his first two seasons. Shaun Draughn and Mike Davis are backing up Hyde.
