49ers Beat: Don't be surprised if WR Trent Taylor leads team in targets, receptions

"There seems to be a connection between Jimmy Garoppolo and Trent Taylor," fullback Kyle Juszczyk said. "And he just seems to be moving at another speed and just has an incredible feel for space on the field. Many times, it's just him and Jimmy just kind of improvising."

Don't be surprised if he leads the team in targets and receptions, according to beat writer Nick Wagoner.

Fantasy Impact:

Taylor suffered a Jones fracture in his foot last week that will keep him out the rest of the preseason, but the Niners are hopeful he will be back for Week 1. When he does return, the hope is he will pick up where he left off after a training camp that left teammates and coaches raving about his bounce-back from an injury-plagued 2018 season. We have him down the team's depth chart, but he's a name to keep an eye on.

Former Ravens RB J.K. Dobbins is planning to sign with the #Chargers on a one-year deal. Electric when healthy, Dobbins — who averages 5.8 yards per carry in his career — reunites with OC Greg Roman and can hit the market again in March.

Fantasy Impact:

Dobbins has had poor injury luck in his career, but has only managed 234 total rushes since being drafted in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft. This is a low-risk, high-reward move by the Chargers and might give them a runway to wait a little longer in the '24 Draft before they address the position.

Cowboys sign RB Royce Freeman

The Cowboys have signed running back Royce Freeman to a one-year deal. Freeman had 319 yards on 77 carries with 2 touchdowns last year for the Los Angeles Rams. He was 3rd round pick of Denver in '18.

Fantasy Impact:

Freeman hasn't rushed for 500 yards since 2018, his rookie season. This shouldn't have any impact on the team drafting at the position and/or bringing back Ezekiel Elliott.
