IDP Waiver Wire: Week 5 Targets

Injuries and veterans tell the tale of the tape when it comes to the waiver wire this week.

Linebackers

Todd Davis - Denver Broncos

2018 marked a breakthrough season for Davis, recording the first triple-digit tackle season (114) of his career which put him firmly on our fantasy radar, but a calf injury caused him to miss the first two games of the season and he quickly faded from our fantasy consciousness. Missing just two snaps in Week 3, Davis played 100% of defensive snaps in Week 4 and recorded 12 total tackles signaling he is a player worth targeting if you need an upgrade at linebacker. Davis’ value is capped as a low-end LB2 though as throughout his career he has struggled to deliver splash plays, charting just two sacks and one interception during his seven seasons as a pro.

David Mayo - New York Giants

A season-ending ACL tear for Ryan Connolly has promoted five-year veteran David Mayo to a starting gig as the Giants starting ILB and with Alec Ogletree also struggling with a hamstring injury, Mayo has a clear path to extended playing time. Sometimes fantasy is as much about opportunity and a player’s snap count as it is raw ability and that is the case with Mayo here. Don’t get overly carried away with pursuing Mayo, but as evidenced by his eight total tackles in 35 snaps last week, he can be an adequate depth addition to your roster.
