Trader's Alley: Week 3 Buy Low, Sell High, and Hold
The fantasy trade market can often be a wild ride as the season progresses and people begin to think they have teams and players “figured out.” We’re only two weeks into the season, so opinions are likely quite strong despite the obviously small sample size. As a result, there are a few repeats in this column from last week, as Week 2 shed new light or created new opportunities for some of Week 1’s surprises.
Below, I look at several big-name players and offer a take on whether you should buy, sell, or hold the player(s). As the season progresses, this column will develop and I’ll add more to it using the 4for4 Trade Evaluator. For now, use the early-season madness to your advantage and get ready for Week 3.
BUY - James Washington, WR, Pittsburgh Steelers
With the news that Ben Roethlisberger will be out for the season shaking the fantasy world, panic could be setting in among fantasy managers with Steelers on their squads. While the price for acquiring James Conner or JuJu Smith-Schuster might still be quite high, Washington could be a bargain. And there are reasons to believe that Washington could produce with Mason Rudolph under center. Washington and Rudolph were teammates in college, connecting 74 times for 1,549 yards and 15 touchdowns during their final collegiate season. That connection has translated to the NFL as well, as they hooked up for nine of 13 targets for 174 yards and two touchdowns over the last two preseasons. Washington hasn’t done much yet this year, which is why his asking price could be next to nothing.
