Yahoo Wild Card Slate Breakdown

The regular season is over but it doesn’t mean DFS has to come to a halt.

We have a four-game slate for Wild Card weekend and when slates are this small, you usually want to attack tournaments more than cash games. Let’s go position-by-position and find some of the better plays of the weekend.

Quarterbacks

On short slates, you have to plant some flags and I will be building lineups around the narrative that the Bills are going to knock off the Texans in Houston this weekend. If that happens, Josh Allen ($30) should have himself a very strong outing. The sophomore quarterback finished the season as the QB6 in fantasy scoring, largely due to his elite rushing ability. Allen was second among all quarterbacks in rushing attempts per game (6.8) but led the position with nine rushing touchdowns. As a result of his rushing, Allen finished the year averaging 0.55 fantasy points per dropback, the sixth-most among all quarterbacks. From a DFS perspective, Allen is always an ideal cash game play because the floor is so high. He has scored multiple touchdowns in 13 of 15 games this season (not counting last week’s two series). Allen hasn’t had many monster games because the Bills call run 45.6% of the time, the seventh-highest rate in football. Still, I do really like him in this spot. The Texans will have J.J. Watt back for this game but this remains a weak, pass funnel defense. 71.7% of the touchdowns scored against Houston this season have been via the pass, the fourth-highest rate in the NFL. They are also allowing 2.1 passing touchdowns per game, tied for the fourth-most in the league.
