Generally, defenses have to be available on the waiver wire in at least 40% of Yahoo fantasy leagues to be eligible as a streaming option. This ensures we are talking about defenses readily available.

Last week, the Eagles were our top scoring defense with 10 fantasy points against the Cardinals and finished as the DST5 in most formats. In Week 5, our targets averaged nearly 7 points and, overall, our streaming picks are averaging 10.5 FP/game.

Continue to target a defense with a home matchup or facing a below average or rookie QB or making a long road trip. Week 6 is here, so let's look the defensive options we're targeting this week:

Washington Redskins vs. SF

The Redskins are coming off their bye with a favorable home tilt against the 49ers. The Niners will be making the time-zone change heading into the nation's capital.

Rookie Jonathan Allen leads the defensive line with a sack and has four QB hits. He's getting pressure and should find some soft matchups against the 49'ers offensive line. Junior Gallette has a half-sack of his own and four QB hits as well.

Zach Brown leads the team in tackles and has a near 20% tackle share. He's a threat to make plays around the ball and has three tackles for loss. Ryan Kerrigan and Preston Smith are the big pass rushers, as they have combined for 6.5 sacks and 10 QB hits. Kerrigan also has an INT and forced fumble.

Kendall Fuller has an INT and two defended passes and he's also a threat to force a fumble. DJ Swearinger is a big hitter at safety that has the upside to cause turnovers.

Brian Hoyer isn't going to be confused with Joe Montana and the Redskins are an aggressive defense that will get after the QB. They should be readily available in 96 percent of leagues and face a 49ers offense that's giving up the 13th-most schedule-adjusted fantasy points to opposing defenses.
