Streaming Tight Ends: Week 13 Targets

With the fantasy playoffs looming, it’s time to get serious about having the best squad possible at your disposal. It’s time to assess your current roster and see if the TE you drafted is starter-worthy this week or if you are better off grabbing someone off the waiver wire to get the TE1 production your team needs to survive.

The main focus of our research when looking at a TE’s matchup is 4for4’s Schedule-Adjusted Fantasy Points Allowed (aFPA) metric. As the season continues to progress and more data is available, aFPA becomes more and more reliable, using rolling 10-week data. Targets and efficiency metrics are also considered when coming up with weekly TE streamers.

Our goal in streaming is to roster a player that is going to return TE1 fantasy points, and for the second week in a row, my picks let me down. The highest producing guy I recommended was C.J. Fiedorowicz, who put up 8.2 PPR points.

After 12 weeks of football, 4for4 streaming candidates are averaging 8.36 PPR fantasy points per game. The optimal TE streamer has a combined 149.6 PPR fantasy points, enough for TE4 on the season thus far. On to Week 13 where we are hopefully jockeying for playoff berths, all while dealing with bye weeks, injuries and lack of production.

In order to provide advice that you can actually implement, candidates for streaming must be available in at least 40% of Yahoo fantasy leagues.

Lance Kendricks LA @ NE

A fifth-timer in this column, Lance Kendricks may just be my most recommended TE through the first 12 Weeks of the NFL season. Yes, I am just as surprised as you are but we can’t argue with production and metrics.

In the last four weeks, Kendricks has put up TE11 numbers, with an average of 9.5 PPR points per game. For lucky Week 13, the Rams will head to New England to face a Patriots defense that gives up the 14th most points to the TE position, with an aFPA of 13.0. The sixth year TE has become a valuable member of the Rams’ offense this season, sitting third in targets with a respectable 11.2% target per snap rate.

With only 15% of Yahoo fantasy players currently rostering Kendricks, there’s a good chance he’s there for you to pick up, and possibly hang onto for the postseason if you’re fortunate enough to be there.
