Streaming Tight Ends: Week 12 Targets

Has the TE you drafted not panned out, or did you purposely hang tight until the late rounds with the intention of streaming the position weekly? Well, I’ve got you covered. It’s time to assess your current roster and see if the TE you drafted is starter-worthy this week or if you are better off grabbing someone off the waiver wire with an above average matchup which can hopefully translate to TE1 production.

The main focus of our research when looking at a TE’s matchup is 4for4’s Schedule-Adjusted Fantasy Points Allowed (aFPA) metric. As the season continues to progress and more data is available, aFPA becomes more and more reliable, using rolling 10-week data. Targets and efficiency metrics are also considered when coming up with weekly TE streamers.

The goal in streaming is to roster a player that is going to return TE1 fantasy points, and Week 11 was not kind to me or my picks. It happens to the best of us. My highest performing TE was Charles Clay who checked in as TE16 with 7.3 PPR points.

After 11 weeks of football, 4for4 streaming candidates are averaging 8.45 PPR fantasy points per game, which currently ranks as TE23. The optimal TE streamer has a combined 141.4 PPR fantasy points, enough for TE2 on the season thus far. On to Week 12 where we are hopefully jockeying for playoff berths, while dealing with injuries and lack of production.

In order to provide advice that you can actually implement, candidates for streaming must be available in at least 40% of Yahoo fantasy leagues.

Will Tye (NYG) @ CLE

After Larry Donnell was a healthy scratch in Week 11 for the New York Giants, it would appear that Will Tye is now their preferred TE and Eli Manning’s go-to at the position. Tye has seen 20 targets in the last three games which translated to a total of 26.8 PPR fantasy points.

In Week 12, the Giants head to Cleveland to face a Browns defense that has surrendered the most points to the TE this season with an aFPA of 19.1. Even with the other weapons at Manning’s disposal, this matchup is just too juicy to ignore.

Tye is currently owned in only 2% of Yahoo leagues, so if you’re in need of a TE for a playoff run, feel free to add with conviction. As a bonus, the Giants remaining schedule includes several teams in the bottom half of the league when it comes to defending the TE, including DET and DAL.
