Week 7 Essential NFL Practice News & Notes for Friday
Jets QB Ryan Fitzpatrick (right elbow, probable) took full practice reps all week and is probable for Week 7. Fitzpatrick is a Sneaky Start against the Patriots, who are #24 in QB aFPA. Fitzy has the #13 PPG through six weeks.
Titans QB Marcus Mariota (knee, out) missed practice all week and is out for Week 7. Zach Mettenberger is a Sneaky Start against the Falcons, and so is the Falcons defense. Mettenberger through a pick in each of his six starts last year and has a tendency to stand in the pocket and take sacks.
Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger (knee, questionable) took limited practice reps all week and is questionable for Week 7. The Steelers are expected to start Landry Jones, but it sounds like Roethlisberger is lobbying to play. Consider him a game-time decision, but the odds are against Big Ben this week.
Chiefs QB Alex Smith (right thumb, probable) took full practice reps all week and is probable for Week 7. Smith should be fine to face the Steelers. Smith is quietly the #13 QB through six weeks, but he owns the #21 PPG. He is a decent start this week since Jeremy Maclin has been cleared to play.
Steelers QB Michael Vick (hamstring, out) missed practice all week and is out for Week 7. Landry Jones is likely to start for the Steelers, which is an upgrade for Antonio Brown and Martavis Bryant. Five of his 12 pass attempts were to Brown — six if you include the two-point conversion attempt. Jones completed 4-of-5 passes to Bryant for 129 yards and two touchdowns.
