Streaming Tight Ends (TEBWW): Week 2

If you are new to the Tight End By Waiver Wire (TEBWW) strategy, the concept is simple: find an average tight end that is under-owned in most leagues, but has a favorable matchup or has seen a recent increase in usage. The goal is to approach TE1 production all season long after not using a high, or even mid-round draft pick on the position. Just like on draft day, we are always looking to land players that can become every week fantasy starters.

As the season progresses, and we get more data, schedule-adjusted fantasy points allowed (aFPA) will be updated and become an overriding factor in determining the best match ups from week to week. Until then, we will consider usage in the offense and raw fantasy points allowed as our guide.

For a tight end to be eligible for TEBWW, and ensure that they are readily available to most owners, they must be available in at least 40% of ESPN fantasy leagues.

In Week 1, we successfully pinpointed Dwayne Allen (15.9 PPR FP, TE9) and Antonio Gates (14.1 PPR FP, TE10) as tight ends to start, while Travis Kelce, Heath Miller, and Charles Clay struggled.

Here are the top Week 2 TEBWW plays:

Zach Ertz (PHI) at Indianapolis

Going into the season, Zach Ertz was one of the trendy upside picks at tight end, but he is still owned in just over 57% of leagues. Ertz didn’t disappoint in Week 1, finishing as the TE6 in PPR leagues. This week he faces the Colts, a defense that was torched by the tight end against the Broncos, and this is projected by Vegas to be the highest scoring game of the week. He's our top streaming recommendation this week and could very well end up anchoring your team at the TE position.
