Streaming Tight Ends: Week 13 Targets
For the second straight week, fewer than 10 tight ends were able to muster double digit PPR fantasy points. For subscribers to the TEBWW strategy, the recent dip in tight end scoring is beneficial. When plug-and-play tight ends fail to put up plug-and-play quality numbers, the separation between the top fantasy tight ends and streaming options shrinks, making TEBWW an even more viable option.
The negated advantage of an every week tight end starter is evidenced by Week 12’s results and our overall rank.
In terms of total points scored, Week 12 was by far the worst week of the season for our streaming picks. Coby Fleener scored a measly 4.8 PPR points in possibly the best streaming situation we’ve seen to date, Owen Daniels posted just 2.7 PPR points in one of the highest scoring games of the week, and Austin Seferian-Jenkins left the game early with a back injury, leaving his point total at 3.6 PPR points.
Despite anemic numbers in Week 12, TEBWW candidates held on as the TE14 on the season, while our optimal streaming picks actually moved up in the overall tight end ranks to the TE4 on the year.
As a reminder, TEBWW candidates must be available in at least 40% of Yahoo leagues to be eligible for consideration. Be sure to check our tight end ranks leading up to Sunday (and the 3 games on Thursday this week), for any major movement in the rankings.
Here are the top streaming options for Week 13:
Eric Ebron vs CHI
Get this waiver claim in early this week, since the Bears/Lions game is the early game on Thanksgiving. Chicago is the primary defense to target each week for tight end streamers. The Bears rank dead last in aFPA to tight ends, allowing 20.4 PPR points per game to the position. Vegas has the Lions as 7 point favorites, and projected to score 27.5 points, which means there should be increased red zone opportunities for Ebron, who is owned in just 3% of Yahoo leagues.
