Quarterback By Waiver Wire (QBBWW): Week 7

The numbers whispered something, and we listened.

4for4’s weekly projections are terrific, as you well know by now, and our Sortable Team Matchup Stats Report has brought a new level of accuracy to this Quarterback By Waiver Wire (QBBWW) series.

The team matchup stats were a statistical crystal ball last week, projecting Joe Flacco for 280 yards and 1.6 touchdowns (he finished with 342 yards and two scores) and Jay Cutler for 271 yards and 2.2 touchdowns (he threw for 262 and two scores).

The team matchup stats also preached a bit of caution about our third Week 6 QBBWW candidate, Philip Rivers, projecting him for 262 yards and 1.7 touchdowns. Rivers, fantasy’s No. 3 signal caller, threw for 237 yards and a single score in a game that saw the Chargers milk the clock with a fourth quarter lead.

My QBBWW selections, after six weeks, are averaging 16.5 fantasy points per game, or QB13 numbers. Optimal picks from my waiver wire signal callers are now averaging 20.6 fantasy points, or QB4 numbers.

Let’s take our weekly look at how high-end quarterbacks fared against their waiver wire brethren.
