Sneaky Starts: Week 12

As injuries and bye weeks pile up, all but the luckiest fantasy owners at some point need to find the proverbial diamond in the rough -- a waiver wire or bench player who is capable of putting up some points in a pinch. This weekly feature is dedicated to that part of fantasy football. It's not pretty, but it's part of the game.

Week 11's Sneaky Starts included Carson Palmer (QB10), Marcel Reece (RB1), LaRod Stephens-Howling (RB2), Felix Jones (RB12), Shane Vereen (RB14), T.Y. Hilton (WR3), Danario Alexander (WR4), Brandon LaFell (WR10) and Brandon Myers (TE8).

At 4for4, we use Adjusted Fantasy Points Allowed (aFPA) by position heavily in our rankings and analyses. For more detail, click here.

Note: These recommendations do not override our weekly rankings, which are updated throughout the week and weekend.

49ers QB Colin Kaepernick (@ NO)
Kaepernick was terrific in a terrible matchup against the Bears, throwing for 243 yards and two TDs. Assuming he gets another start, he should be fringe QB1-worthy against a Saints defense that struggles mightily against the pass.

Jaguars QB Chad Henne (vs. TEN)
Henne gets the start with Blaine Gabbert done for the year. All Henne did against the Texans in Week 11 was throw for 354 yards and four TDs. He has a home matchup with the Titans, who are #28 in QB aFPA.

Jaguars RB Jalen Parmele (vs. TEN)
Fed up with Rashad Jennings' lack of production, the Jaguars turned to Parmele, who rushed 24 times for 80 yards in a bad matchup against the Texans. He should have an easier time against the Titans (#28 in RB aFPA).
