Packers Mini-Camp

4for4.com Exclusive
By Burke Griffin
05/22/06

After attending Packer mini-camp sessions, Burke Griffin files this exclusive report.

Question: Burke can you give us an evaluation on Brett Favre for this year?
Do you seriously want a Favre evaluation now… He did next to nothing at the first minicamp and didn’t attend this weekend’s sessions. I believe he wont be at 1/2 of the June mini sessions. He is saving his arm. In the past 2 years he probably burned out by November and now he knows he needs his "live-arm" during the season, not on a Wednesday in mid-August.

DO NOT TO TAKE WR Terrence Murphy. He has a neck condition that isn’t likely to be cleared by any NFL doctor or trainer. He is done and was released by the team. He did look great early last year but suffered a major concussion and neck injury against Carolina and hasn’t practiced since.

I would put the Packers WR corp like this right now:

Driver
Gardner
Ferguson
Boerigter
Jennings

If Fergie is healthy he's solid, but as we've seen before, he’s a major gamble.

Coach McCarthy loves big recievers and I could see Boerigter and Gardner battling for #2 or #3 depending on Ferguson's health.

Jennings looks very good for a Western Michigan WR going against bigtime DB's. Quick cuts, can fly when he has too and decent hands. If you had any interest in Murphy, you should probably put Greg Jennings on your list instead.
