Day One Analysis: The Packers selection of A.J. Hawk has been a slam dunk
for the last three months and the Packers are getting a great player who
could challenge for Defensive Rookie of the Year honors. The rest of the picks
were good but not earth shattering. Daryn College was taken 1 or 2 rounds
too soon and there were better tackles available. Greg Jennings was a terrific
pick who can play right out of the gate. Abdul Hodge and Jason Spitz both
seem like they would have been better served going to other teams. I was
critical of the Packers last year when they went quantity over quality, let’s
hope they pick it up on day two.
Day Two Analysis: I hammered the Packers draft last year and day one
seemed to be much of the same after A.J. Hawk. I have to give the Packers
credit on day two, they turned it around. Will Blackmon, Ingle Martin and
Tony Moll are all great picks. Then we come to Johnny Jolly the player I
predicted as the big sleeper on day two of the draft.
Fantasy Impact: A.J. Hawk should be taken as early as possible if you are
looking for defensive help on your IDP team. Greg Jennings may hold some
value with Javon Walker gone. With offensive and defensive possibilities
watch Will Blackmon, he could be worth a chance late in your draft.
