FANTASY UPSIDE
No one in the NFL caught more TD passes than Marvin Harrison in 2005. Marvin is still one of the top 10 wideouts in the NFL (he finished 10th in overall yardage in 2005) but no longer should he be in the discussion for the first receiver taken in the draft (I say see Chad Johnson).

FANTASY DOWNSIDE
No way I’m predicting the complete downfall of Marvin in 2006, but let’s just say if he was a rocket ship, last season was the year he finally ran out of fuel. He’ll still be sky high in 2006, but we should start seeing the descent towards earth this season.
Let’s face it; last year was the Colts year. 2006? Who knows? But Marvin is another year older and opposing defenses have had another year to figure out how to slow down the Colts offense.

MY BOTTOM LINE
Marvin Harrison is a well-documented commodity in fantasy football and he’s still a decent second round pick. He’ll still post 1000 yards and 10+ TD’s in 2006. Just don’t expect him to be the top guy at WR this season. Not at 33 years old.

To be honest, this might be the year Reggie Wayne warrants a higher pick than Harrison. Reggie is six years Marvin’s junior and could be poised to take over as option #1 in the Colts passing attack (moving Marvin to 1A).

Given Wayne can be had in the 3rd round, perhaps that’s the way to go.

FANTASY UPSIDE
You could make an argument that Harrison remains the No. 1 receiver in fantasy football, as he doesn’t give you the headaches of Terrell Owens and has proven to be as durable as any receiver in the league, missing just two games in the past seven seasons. And the game he missed last season was only because the Colts had wrapped up home field advantage throughout the AFC playoffs. Harrison’s reception total of 82 last season was his lowest since he caught 59 passes in just 12 games in 1998, but with Edgerrin James now in Arizona, the Colts may be forced to throw the ball a little more this season than they did last.

FANTASY DOWNSIDE
It’s hard to believe, but Marvin Harrison will turn 32 this season. At 32, you have to begin to wonder when father time will begin to catch up with Harrison. But as long as he has Manning throwing him the ball in that offense, he remains one of the top receivers in football. One could make the argument that Reggie Wayne’s emergence has hurt Harrison, but Harrison remains Peyton Manning’s unquestioned favorite receiver.

MY BOTTOM LINE
Don’t be afraid to take Harrison early in your draft after the top running backs and top few quarterbacks are gone. He’s that good. The fact he’s coming off the draft board at 20 to 25 looks like a bargain to me. Harrison remains the only player to have four consecutive 100 or more reception seasons in NFL history. He may not still be able to win you a game single-handedly as he did in year’s past – his 143-catch season in 2002 is the benchmark for receivers – but he’s still the most consistent wideout playing football, at least until Wayne or Arizona’s Larry Fitzgerald takes that title away from him.
