FANTASY UPSIDE
Before getting injured last year, Engram amassed 27 catches for 316 yards in his first four games. Folks that averages out to 6.8 receptions and 79 yards a game! For the year, Bobby posted 67 grabs for 774 yards and three touchdowns despite missing games in weeks 5, 6 and 7. This year only looks brighter for the veteran as the Hawks offense seems to have finally taken to Holmgren’s system. I believe the team looks much more comfortable running the West Coast offense. With the departure of Joe Jurevicius and his 10 touchdowns to Cleveland, Engram could become a bigger part of the offense, especially on third downs where he seems to always find a way to get open.
FANTASY DOWNSIDE
With all the weapons the Hawks have on offense, at best, Engram is their third option, clearly behind Alexander and D-Jack. In addition, he needs to stay healthy and fight off the newly acquired Nate Burleson and holdover Peter Warrick who is returning for another season.
MY BOTTOM LINE
I believe Engram is a solid veteran receiver. He could pay big dividends if D-Jack’s knee continues to be a problem. Remember this, depending on the size league, if you take Bobby as your number four or five WR he should provide you with decent numbers week-in and week-out. He’ll also surprise you with a couple of solid performances along the way. The Hawks have plenty of weapons on offense and that makes it hard for defenses to key on just one player. Assuming he’s healthy, it wouldn’t surprise me to see Engram post 70-80 grabs for 900-1000 yards and 6+ touchdowns. Not bad for a guy who will probably fall on most draft boards and currently is going in the 15th to 20th round.
