NFL Week #13
Essential Practice Notes from Thursday
 11-29-2007

As we told you yesterday while he was not on the NFL Injury report, Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald is dealing with a sore groin. Today the Cardinals officially listed him and reported Fitzgerald was limited at practice Wednesday and Thursday. The good news is we’re told the team still expects him to play.
---

Giants RB Brandon Jacobs (hamstring) was limited at practice Wednesday and Thursday. He's considered very questionable to play at this point.
---

Giants RB Derrick Ward (ankle, groin) took reps again Thursday. He's considered probable to play at this point.
---

Giants WR Plaxico Burress (ankle, knee) did not practice Wednesday or Thursday. That’s been his usual pattern due to his ankle, but now he has a knee issue as well. He’ll be listed as questionable Friday, but we’re told he has a better than 50-50 chance to start.
---

Falcons TE Alge Crumpler (team decision) was limited again at practice Thursday. He’s still on track to start.
---

Ravens RB Willis McGahee (ankle) was limited at practice Thursday. Baltimore plays Monday so he’ll have plenty of time to do more before game time.
---

Ravens TE Todd Heap (thigh) was limited at practice Thursday. It’s a step in the right direction but Heap still remains rather iffy for Monday. We’ll know more after Friday’s practice.
---

Bills RB Marshawn Lynch (ankle) has not practiced this week and should be ruled out for Sunday.
---

Bills backup RB Anthony Thomas (calf) was unable to work Wednesday and did not practice Thursday. Thomas has a torn calf muscle and his status for Sunday's game is not good. He is not expected to play this week and could be out for several games.
---

With Lynch and Thomas out, the Bills Fred Jackson will likely start at running back Sunday with rookie Dwayne Wright in the mix as well.
---

Bills WR Roscoe Parrish (illness) got back to work today. He did not practice Wednesday.
---

The Panthers Vinny Testaverde (back) took reps Wednesday and Thursday. If his back holds up, he will start at quarterback Sunday.
---

Bengals RB Kenny Watson (hip) took reps Wednesday but was limited at practice Thursday. For now, he still remains on track to dress out against Pittsburgh.
---

Bengals WR T.J. Houshmandzadeh (back) did not practice Wednesday but took reps Thursday. He’s on track to start as normal.
---

Bengals WR Chad Johnson (knee) took reps Wednesday and got his typical extra day of rest Thursday.
---

Browns WR Braylon Edwards (hamstring) did not practice Wednesday or Thursday. Look for Edward to return to practice Friday. Edwards and company have a great matchup this weekend as the Cardinals have several major injures in their secondary right now. Coach Crennel said, "I expect him (Edwards) to play."
---

Denver RBs Selvin Young and Travis Henry should be ready to play according to Coach Mike Shanahan. Both RBs also say they are ready to play. It’s unclear how they will split the game workload, however we’ll have more Friday. The wild card here is we’re hearing that Travis Henry's drug appeal status is expected to be announced Friday. In any case, don’t count on RB Andre Hall (high ankle) this weekend.
---

WR Brandon Stokley returned to practice today after sitting out Wednesday. Both Stockley and Javon Walker had a full practice.
---

Texans RB Ahman Green (knee) did not practice Wednesday but did some running and team drills at practice Thursday. He remains very iffy for Week #13.
---

Texans WR Andre Johnson’s knee is starting to act up again. Nothing major at this point but he was limited at practice Wednesday and Thursday. We’ll have more after team drills on Friday.
---

Colts WR Marvin Harrison (knee) did not practice Wednesday or Thursday. It’s not realistic to expect much from him this weekend. With Harrison out, rookie Anthony Gonzalez is starting to come up to speed.
---

Chiefs QB Brodie Croyle (back) did not practice Wednesday or Thursday. He’s now very iffy despite Coach Edwards being optimistic about Croyle’s availability several days ago.
---

Take it with a grain of salt, but speaking with a small group of reporters yesterday, Larry Johnson suggested he could return to play next weekend. "If not this Sunday, then hopefully next Sunday" said Johnson. "I really want to get back." Johnson told us he was able to run a little and push the sled Wednesday. He also said his foot was able to hold his weight. KC has already said Johnson will not play this weekend.
---

Dolphins RB Jesse Chatman (ankle) was limited at practice Wednesday and Thursday. The fact he’s doing some work is a good sign. For now, treat Chatman as a game time call.
---

Vikings RB Adrian Peterson (knee) got more reps in Thursday. If Peterson does more Friday, he’ll remain high in our week 13 rankings. If not, his projections will be lowered slightly.
---

Vikings WR Troy Williamson (concussion) was limited at practice Wednesday and did not practice Thursday. Look elsewhere as his situation is iffy at best.
---

Patriots QB Tom Brady (right shoulder) remains on track to start despite missing some reps Wednesday and Thursday.
---

Patriots RB Kevin Faulk (thigh) did not practice Wednesday or Thursday. They play Monday so Faulk has time to get back to team drills. Right now we believe he’s somewhere between questionable and probable. More to follow.
---

Patriots WR Wes Welker (team decision) was limited at practice again Thursday but no injury was listed so he’s likely getting extra rest. This is becoming a somewhat typical pattern for Welker.
---

Saints RB Reggie Bush (shin) was limited at practice Wednesday but took reps Thursday. He’s on track to play this weekend however backup RB Pierre Thomas (kidney) may not play.
---

Jets WRs Laveranues Coles (ankle) and Jerricho Cotchery (finger) remain somewhat questionable for Sunday. To be safe, start planning for game time calls. Also, get Jets #3 WR Brad Smith (back) on the radar screen. He continues to improve in his adjustment from college QB to NFL WR.
---

Raiders QB Daunte Culpepper (quadricep) took reps Wednesday but missed some drills at practice Thursday. Barring a setback, Culpepper should be able to do more Friday.
---

Eagles QB Donovan McNabb (ankle) did not practice Wednesday or Thursday. We don’t expect McNabb to rush back at this stage after missing practice two days in a row. If he sits Friday, he’s very likely not going to play.
---

Eagles RB Brian Westbrook (knee) did not practice Wednesday or Thursday. Look for Philly to treat him as a game time call regardless what he does Friday. For the record, Westbrook suggested he would play at his press conference earlier this week.
---

Steelers WR Hines Ward (team decision) did not practice Wednesday but took his reps Thursday. He’ll be ready Sunday.
---

Seahawks QB Matt Hasselbeck (hip) did more Thursday and should be ready to start against Philadelphia.
---

Barring a setback, Seahawks RB Shaun Alexander (knee) remains on track to dress out against Philly. How much work he gets is another question as RB Maurice Morris is dealing with a sore ankle. We’ll know more after Friday’s practice.
---

49ers RB Frank Gore (ankle) took it easy again in practice Thursday but barring a setback, Gore will start Sunday.
---

Rams QB Marc Bulger (concussion) did not practice Thursday and was ruled out for the week. Veteran QB Gus Frerotte will get the start against Atlanta.
---

Bucs QB Jeff Garcia (back) did not practice Wednesday or Thursday. On the plus side, Coach Gruden, when talking about Garcia said, “He is improving. He didn’t really take many reps today, but he does feel a lot better and we’re excited about that.” On how Luke McCown and Bruce Gradkowski looked on the practice field, Coach said, “We have a situation right now where we’re looking at both of them. I thought both guys did a pretty good job. We need the guys to pick it up and play great for us to win this game. But I was pleased for the most part, and now we’ve got to step up around them. Everybody has to elevate their game now.”
---

Bucs RB Michael Pittman (ankle) did not practice Wednesday but did some limited work Thursday. On Pittman returning to practice, Coach Gruden said, “Yeah, he did a little bit. I don’t know that his status changes much. But some of these guys have to eventually test it out, and we’ll see how he feels tomorrow.”
---

Bucs WR Joey Galloway (team decision) did not practice Wednesday but took reps Thursday. That’s been a pattern all year and he plays.
---

Redskins RB Clinton Portis (back) did not practice Wednesday and was limited at practice Thursday. Redskins WR Santana Moss (heel) was limited at practice Wednesday and Thursday. Ditto for Antwaan Randle el (hamstring).
