After more than three hours of dreadful offensive football, New York Jets coach Rex Ryan sought out Carolina coach John Fox at midfield, happy the final gun had sounded to signal the end of a night of punts and turnovers.
"I told John Fox it looked like a pillow fight out there with both offenses struggling like that, to say the least,'' Ryan said. "You're going to have days like that."
Mark Sanchez and Matt Moore hope there aren't many more, after nearly equally poor quarterback performances in the Jets' touchdown-less, 9-3 victory over the Panthers on Saturday night.
Sanchez was lucky to avoid two interceptions and failed to get the Jets in the end zone despite great field position. Moore couldn't lead Carolina to any points on a night of bad passes, drops and penalties.
Sanchez completed five of 10 passes for 12 yards, a setback after he recovered from an interception on his first pass Monday against the Giants and looked sharp. LaDainian Tomlinson 's 20-yard draw play was the Jets' top offensive play.
The Panthers couldn't even come close to matching that - which is why they lost despite allowing only 112 yards.
Moore, given the starting job when seven-year starter Jake Delhomme was released in the offseason, failed to lead a scoring drive for the second straight preseason game. He completed just six of 17 passes for 57 yards and an interception.
Rookie Jimmy Clausen wasn't much better, going 9 of 22 for 72 yards and a pick, and neither got much help. Carolina played without star receiver Steve Smith (broken arm) and the unheralded stable of receivers behind him did nothing to quell concerns Smith will be the Panthers' only option.
Moore badly overthrew rookie Brandon LaFell on a deep pass on Carolina's opening possession and safety Jim Leonhard swooped in for the interception. Leonhard came in unblocked and sacked Moore the second time the Panthers had the ball.
LaFell, a third-round pick, had trouble holding onto passes after getting hit. Kenny Moore had some drops, while Dwayne Jarrett struggled to get open.
Kellen Clemens got the most time at quarterback after Sanchez, finishing 4 of 6 for 32 yards. Veteran Mark Brunell was 3 of 7 for 2 yards.

Fantasy Upside
The "LT Train" has arrived in New York. LaDainian Tomlinson choose the Jets over other offers of reported more money. He came to New York to win a Super Bowl. Arguably, he is one of the best running backs in recent time. He's also fantastic out of the backfield catching the ball and getting up field.
Fantasy Downside
No matter how you slice it, LT's numbers have drastically fallen off. Many people believe he has lost a step. Some have gone as far as saying that "LT is washed up." There's also talk from San Diego fold that LT has developed an attitude or diva complex. All of this could mean bad chemistry and/ or bad production.
Bottom Line
93 carries for 343 yards....is what Darren Sproles tallied behind the San Diego offensive line. Sure, LT may have lost a step but his counter-part Sproles could not muster any rushing yards either. Don't hate the player, hate the game! At 31 years old, this is LT's final shot at the Vince Lombardi trophy. He's hungry. Consider him a low-end #3 RB and a handcuff to young stud Shonn Greene. In PPR leagues, his value will increase given his pass catching ability.

Week 17-LaDainian Tomlinson vs. Redskins
LT will play a series or two then will rest up for the playoffs. Keep him on the bench this week.

Week 16-LaDainian Tomlinson vs. Titans
LT's yardage stayed in the same range last week, but he didn't cross the goal line since Week 9. That hurt some fantasy teams in their playoffs because Tomlinson has not been putting up big yardage. He did have 58 yards receiving so that helped, but he has been consistently a No. 2 fantasy RB all season and that's what he will be on Christmas night against the Titans No. 9 ranked run defense.

Week 15-LaDainian Tomlinson vs. Bengals
Tomlinson now has nine TDs in his past 7 games and although isn't putting up great numbers, he has been consistently good. This week could be a different story against the Bengals' No. 3 ranked run defense. The Bengals could limit LT's impact on the game. Start Tomlinson as a No. 2 fantasy RB this week.

Week 14-LaDainian Tomlinson vs. Cowboys
Tomlinson has scored TDs in four straight games now, but he will have a tougher time against the Dallas run defense which is ranked No. 9 in the NFL. Start Tomlinson as a low-end No. 2 running back and hope he can keep his streak going.

Week 13-LaDainian Tomlinson vs. Browns
Tomlinson is picking up fantasy steam lately with 5 TDs in the past three games. He is not back to stud status, but he has been helping his owners more with consistent carries. Start him a solid No. 2 fantasy RB and hope the TDs keep coming.

Week 12-LaDainian Tomlinson vs Chiefs
Tomlinson has carried the ball at least 20 times the past two games and scored 3 TDs in that span. He has also burned the Chiefs in the past averaging 90 yards per game and 11 TDs in 16 games. However, he only had 73 yards and 0 TDs in their first meeting. We are pretty sure LT has some fantasy value left this year but it continues to be as fantasy No. 2 running back.

Week 11-LaDainian Tomlinson vs. Broncos
Tomlinson has been great against the Broncos during his career and put up 70 yards in the first meeting this season. He has also been better lately with four TDs in his last three games. But we don't see him being much better than a high-end No. 3 running back this week at Denver because he listed as questionable with a bad hip. Health has been an issue for LT in past couple seasons.

Week 10-LaDainian Tomlinson vs. Eagles
Tomlinson is nursing an ailing hip, but was able to practice on Thursday. He really has had minimal numbers in 2009 with a season-high 71 yards rushing and only 3 TDs and they were all against the Raiders. Keep an eye on his health this weekend, but even if he is given the green light, he is a low-end No. 3 fantasy running back at best against Philly's No. 10 ranked run defense.

Week 9-LaDainian Tomlinson vs. Giants
Tomlinson owners were finally rewarded for their patience last week when LT rushed for two TDs. Despite those juicy numbers, his yardage is still mininal, at least from Tomlinson standards and who knows if he will ever have a big game again. The Giants have been somewhat vulnerable against the run this season, so maybe that will give Tomlinson owners some hope. Start him as a No. 2 fantasy RB for Week 9.

Week 8-LaDainian Tomlinson vs. Raiders
The good news for LT owners is that he had 23 carries last week. He still isn't putting up great fantasy numbers and still hasn't gotten in the end zone since Week 1 against Oakland. He traditionally plays very well against the Raiders, but he is not the player he has been. Start him, but only as a No. 2 fantasy RB for Week 8.

Week 7-LaDainian Tomlinson vs. Chiefs
Good news for LT owners. He had season highs in carries (19) and catches (3) last week so maybe the Chargers are finally realizing Tomlinson has something left in the tank. He has been outstanding in his career against KC averaging over 90 yards per game with 11 TDs. The Chiefs run defense is one of the NFL's worst, so expect Tomlinson to deliver a good amount of fantasy points this week. Start him as high-end No. 2 fantasy RB for Week 7.

Week 6-LaDanian Tomlinson vs. Broncos
Usually, Tomlinson is a slam dunk against the Broncos. He had three TDs the last time he played against them. But he isn't the game and neither is Denver's defense. In fact, their run defense has been really good (ranked 6th in the NFL). San Diego is coming off a bye week which should help LT, but we only like him as a No. 3 fantasy RB or flex player this week.

Week 4-LaDainian Tomlinson vs. Steelers
Tomlinson is nursing an ankle injury which cause him to miss the last two games. He practiced Thursday and should be back, but has a tough match-up against the Steelers. He rushed for 58 yards and a TD against the Steelers in the playoffs last year and you can expect about the same if he is healthy. Watch his status on Sunday and if he plays, start him only has a No. 3 fantasy RB or flex player.

Week 3-LaDainian Tomlinson vs. Dolphins
Tomlinson missed Week 2 and did not practice Thursday so it appears he will be out for Week 3 so Darren Sproles and Michael Bennett will head the Chargers running game.

Week 2 Update
Tomlinson has been ruled out for Sunday's home opener against Baltimore. Darren Sproles stock goes up.

Week 2-LaDainian Tomlinson vs. Ravens
Tomlinson injured his ankle last week and how much he will play is still in question. Even if he does play, he probably will split time with Darren Sproles and that along with facing the Ravens hurts his fantasy value. In fact, he has no value in Week 2. Keep him on the bench.

Week 1-Ladainian Tomlinson vs. Raiders
Tomlinson wasn't in many people's top 5 when it came to 2009 fantasy drafts, but if you got him later, he should pay off in Week 1. Tomlinson faces a Raiders run defense that was the second worst in the NFL and he has averaged 119 yards per game against Oakland and scored 19 TDs in 16 games and throw in 4.7 yards per carry as well. LT loves playing against the Raiders and his fantasy owners get that privilege twice a season. He might be the best bet at RB in Week 1.
