Christian Ponder suffers concussion
December 1, 2013, 8:50pm
ESPN - [Full Article]
Minnesota Vikings quarterback Christian Ponder left the team's game with the Chicago Bears with a concussion just before halftime, and his status for next week is up in the air.
Ponder took a helmet-to-helmet hit on a two-yard completion to Greg Jennings near the end of the first half, and went to the locker room without his helmet to be evaluated.
After Ponder left the game, Matt Cassel led a 10-point comeback in the fourth quarter and eventually directed the Vikings to a 23-20 overtime win. Cassel threw for 243 yards in relief of Ponder. Josh Freeman would be the backup to Cassel if Ponder misses time. But it's a tough matchup at Baltimore in Week 14.

Josh Freeman - Week 9 vs. Does it really matter? (Dallas)
The Vikings quarterback situation is a dilemma no one really cares about. Whether it's Christian Ponder under center or Matt Cassel or now (expected to be) Josh Freeman, they all are irrelevant in fantasy. They are terrible every week and it doesn't matter who they're playing. But since I have a job to do, let's evaluate Freeman.
Last time Freeman played he threw the ball 53 times and couldn't even get to 200 passing yards. He had just 20 completions and had no touchdowns.
After the game Freeman must have looked at the stats he produced and tried to figure out in his head how he could have been so terrible. This must have given him a concussion, which forced him out of last week's game. Now the Vikings have decided to go back to Freeman, because they're desperate and willing to try anything.
Long story short, don't start Freeman this week. Or any week for that matter.
