Jason Campbell was more relaxed this time and it showed from the outset of Oakland's 32-17 victory over the Chicago Bears.

Oakland's new quarterback led a long scoring drive on the first series of the game, and in his one half of play, Campbell was 10-for-20 for 170 yards with a short TD run and an interception.

In the opening drive, he hit Michael Bush with a 24-yard screen pass on a third-and-17. He completed an 18-yarder to Johnnie Lee Higgins , a 13-yarder to Zach Miller and a 27-yarder to Louis Murphy that carried to the Chicago 2. Campbell sneaked in for the score on a third-and-goal as the Raiders' first unit accounted for its first points of the preseason after failing to score in just over a quarter of action in last week's opener against Dallas.

Chicago's Jay Cutler also played the first half in the game at Soldier Field, completing 7 of 15 for 99 yards with a 22-yard TD pass to Johnny Knox.

Chicago's first-team offense got a big lift when Matt Forte broke loose on an 89-yard TD run in the first quarter. But the Bears converted on only of 2 of 14 third-down situations in the game, while Oakland was 8-for-17.

Kyle Boller quarterbacked the Raiders for most of the second half, scoring on a 2-yard run to cap a 10-play, 51-yard drive late in the third quarter that gave the Raiders a 27-14 lead. Dan LeFevour replaced Cutler and led a drive that reached the 4 before the Bears settled for a 25-yard field goal by Robbie Gould.

Matt Forte got off to a slow start in training camp as he still dealt with a pulled hamstring suffered during the offseason and revealed on WBBM-AM 780 that he suffered an MCL sprain in the season. He didn't miss a game.

Week 17 vs Lions

After being a colossal disappointment for most of the season, Forte has gradually been getting better the last month of the season. In that stretch he had a 91 yard game and has increased his yardage total in each of his last three games.

The news gets even better as he faces off with the Lions this Sunday. In week four, the Bears back had his best game of the season with 121 yards and a touchdown. I wouldn't expect that kind of game, but he could get near the century mark if the Bears stick with the philosophy that they get off the bus running.

Week 16 vs Vikings

Fantasy owners who took Forte in the first round just have to be thinking please let this nightmare end, as he almost single handily ruined several rosters with his pathetic Sophomore Campaign. After 1200 yards and 8 touchdowns, as a rookie, Forte has followed it up with just over 750 yards and just 4 touchdowns. In fact the only game he went over the century mark on the ground was vs. Detroit in Week 4.

Don't count on anything close to that on Monday night as they matchup with Minnesota and that monster defensive line. In their matchup in Week 11, Forte had just 27 yards on 8 carries. I don't think it will be that bad, but he still isn't worthy of a start especially this late in the season.

Week 15 vs Ravens

Matt Forte

The good news is that the sophomore slump is almost over, the bad news is that over the final 3 games, Forte has two really hard matchups for any running back, this week in Baltimore and next week against Minnesota. Forte is averaging just over 52 yards a game, and has almost as many fumbles(3) as touchdowns(4), which is never a good thing. I know it's hard to sit your first round pick especially come playoff time, but I would keep Forte glued to that bench, especially after getting in the end zone just once over the last 6 games.

Week 14 vs Packers

Anytime your quarterback is tied for the league lead with 20 interceptions, any offensive coordinator is prompted to limit the passing attack and focus on grinding the game out of the ground. It's no different as Ron Turner gave the ball to Matt Forte 24 times last week and it payed off as the Bears Sophomore slump had 91 yards and a touchdown.

The problem is, that was just his 4th rushing touchdown of the season, and this week he gets the packers who have the 4th ranked rushing defense in the NFL giving up just over 87 yards a game on the ground. Regardless, I still would expect the Bears to try and establish the running game especially with Jay Cutler having a hand injury, but this is just not a good matchup for Forte. Just look at the opening game in Green Bay when he had 55 yards on 25 carries.

Week 13 vs Rams

After going up against two of the best defenses in Philly and Minnesota, Forte gets a break this week as the Bears welcome the Rams into Chicago. Last week St. Louis gave up 130 yards and 2 touchdowns to the Seahawks Justin Forsett. In fact over the last 3 games, the Rams have yielded 556 rushing yards. The downside is that the Bears rank 32nd in Rushing Offense, with just over 85 yards per game, but Forte is a dual threat who has been padding his stats with catches out of the backfield.

I know he has stunk for most of the season, and torched anyone who took him in the first round, but this might be one of the final chances to get some production from Forte. He rushed for 139 yards on 21 attempts with two touchdowns last season against the Rams.

Week 12 vs Vikings

Things go from bad to worse for Matt Forte owners, as the running back gets his toughest test of the season trying to crack the Williams Wall as the Bears head to Minnesota. The Vikings led by Pat and Kevin Williams anchor the center of one of the best defensive lines in football that just happens to give up just under 86 yards per contest. Add that to the fact that the Bears Offensive Line hasn't created a hole all season long and Forte owners shouldn't expect a ton of yards on the ground. In fact Forte is averaging just 51.6 yards that way but has been effective catching balls out of the backfield getting 120 yards two weeks ago. It's a tough start this week for fantasy owners with your only hope being Forte having another big day through the air opposed to on the ground.

Week 11 vs Eagles

It only took about half the season, but the Bears have finally found a way to use Matt Forte and provide some saving grace for fantasy owners who got burned in the first round. Instead of having him constantly run into the worst offensive line in football, the disappointing Bears have been utilizing one of his other strengths which is catching the ball out of the backfield.

The last two weeks Forte has had just 74 yards combined on the ground, but did catch 14 balls for 194 yds. With Jay Cutler having trouble with the turnovers the safest throw is usually to his running back so expect the balls to continue to go Fortes way especially this week against the Eagles blitzing defense. I would recommend keeping Forte in your lineup as a number 2 back.

Week 10 vs 49ers

It was kind of hard to gauge if Forte has come out of his sophomore slump because the Bears were down so early they abandoned the run almost immediately resulting in just 5 carries for 33 yards. Forte did have some success catching the ball out of the backfield with 6 grabs for 74 yards resulting in over 100 yards on the day. The biggest thing I took out of the game was that it looks like Forte is back to being a dual threat not only running the ball but also racking up thereceiving yards. A big problem for fantasy owners has been the overall inconsistency, as Forte has scored in just 2 games, had over 100 yds once, and has had less than 35 yards four times. Scary stats, add in that San Francisco is 4th in the NFL at stopping the run and it doesn't look that great for Forte. It's still hard to bench a first round pick, but beleery of putting too much stock in Forte, and if you have better options go with them this week.

Week 9 vs Cardinals

A running backs best friend is always a good offensive line, and Matt Forte has one of the worst units in the league in front of him. Even though Forte had his best game of the season with 2 touchdowns and 90 yards against the awful Cleveland Browns he is still a dangerous pick this week against Arizona.

It gets tricky because Through 6 games the Cardinals were one of the best in the league at stopping the run, but were absolutely mashed in last weeks loss as the Panthers ran for 270 yds and two scores. Now I know the Bears are determined to get the run going because they feel that will take the pressure off of Jay Cutler and open up the offense. The problem is that even after getting destroyed last week, Arizona still has one of the top rushing defenses giving up less than 100 yards per game. With Kurt Warner on the other side the risk for a shootout is always there, so that would take away the running game and therefore hurt Forte.

I'm not saying to automatically sit him because he's still a top 15 back coming off a two touchdown game, but this could be the start of a brutal stretch for the Bears back.

Week 8 vs. the Browns

Forte owners have to be at wit's end after watching the Bears back suffer a major sophomore slump. After rushing for over 1200 yards as a rookie, the fantasy world expected things to just keep getting better, but some nagging injuries and a brutal offensive line have made Forte a first round bust. The 2nd year back from Tulane has failed to live up to any of the traits that had people selecting him in the Top 5.

Playing for a team that says they get off the bus running, Forte has barely been able to walk, averaging just 53 yards per game while reaching the end zone just twice. In fact over the last 2 weeks he has combined to run for just 47 yards on 21 carries.

I know most owners are fed up and have had enough but if ever there was a week to keep Forte in your lineup, it's this week against the awful Browns who give up nearly 110yds per game on the ground. Through 6 games, Forte really has had only one good game, but expect that total to double this week at home against Cleveland.

Week 7 vs Bengals

Maybe it's a Sophomore Slump, Maybe it's the Bears Offensive Line, Whatever it is it's not working for the guy several fantasy owners selected in the Top 5 of the Draft. Heading into the year the consensus was that with the addition of a Pro Bowl Quarterback in Jay Cutler, the running game led by Forte would only get better. However, it just hasn't happen for the back who ran for over 1200 yards as a rookie.

Forte is averaging just under 59 yds per game, and has only reached the end zone one time in 5 games. Not the ideal production for a number one back. Maybe he'll get some motivation this week facing off with guy he replaced in Cedric Benson, but I think until Forte shows he can repeat his play from last year, you can't keep getting burned. I'm not saying bench him all together, but I would be hesitant to keep relying on Forte for top back production. He might be a number two or even a flex play until he gets things straightened out.

Week 6 vs the Falcons

Every week you think this is going to be the week Forte finally breaks out and rewards owners who made him a Top 5 pick. Well maybe this is the week coming out of the bye against a Falcons team that gives up an average of 127 yards on the ground per game. The Bears 2nd year back also is coming off his best game of the season when he had 121 yards on 12 carries and scored his first touchdown of the season. Even though 61 of them came on one run, Forte seems to be getting in a groove with his offensive line which has 3 new starters. Maybe this will be the start of a 2nd quarter surge for a back that ran for over 1200 yards as a rookie, but through 4 games is averaging just under 68 yards a contest.

Week 4 vs Detroit

3 weeks in and Forte has been one of the biggest fantasy disappointments. Taken in the Top 5 in most drafts, the 2nd year back is experiencing a massive sophomore slump averaging just 50 yards per game with no touchdowns. The most disappointing thing was that after facing the Packers and Steelers, Forte was expected to break out against a Seattle team that gave up over 200 yards to Frank Gore the week before. Unfortunately the Bears top back managed just 66 yards with no scores.

The bright side is he did go over the century mark as far as all purpose yards and is facing a Detroit team that is giving up an average of over 111 yards per contest. In his last meeting against the Lions, he had 22 rushes for 126 yards so maybe this will be the spark. Another bonus is that over the last 2 weeks, Forte has 11 catches which leads all NFL Running Backs. If you took Forte in the Top Five you really have no choice but to stick with him, and hopefully the light will go on. We hope this slump can't last forever, and this seems like it could be the week to get Forte going. Start him as your #1 back.

Matt Forte
Week 3 at Seattle

After back to back tough match ups, Matt Forte owners finally might get to see their top 5 pick pay off, as the 2nd year back heads to the great northwest to battle the Seahawks.

Anything has to be better than the 84 yds and no scores, Forte has racked up on the ground after two weeks.

Maybe this is the game to get Forte back on track. Seattle gave up 256 yds on the ground including 207 to Frank Gore with touchdown runs of 79 and 80 yards.

That's almost 13 yds per carry, and considering Forte doesn't have a run longer than 10 yards, you're hoping something has to give. The Bears should help out on the matter as they're expected to try and establish the run early and often.

Despite his early struggles, stick with Forte, and he might reward with a big game.

Matt Forte

Week 2 vs. Pittsburgh

Normally a must start but maybe a number two option as he faces the Steelers who held the Titans to 86 yards on the ground in the opener. Pro Bowler Chris Johnson had 15 carries for just 57 yards, with 32 coming on one long run.

The Bears 2nd year back had 55-yds on 25 carries in his first game against a Packers team that’s just testing out a new defense. 2.2 yards a carry isn’t exactly what fantasy owners expected from a Top-5 pick. Another problem was that Forte failed to catch a ball out of the backfield, taking away one of his strengths as an elite dual threat. Last season he led the team in receptions, so expect him to get more involved this week as the Bears try and figure out how to move the ball on Pitt’s great defense. One positive is that things should improve in the following weeks against the Seahawks and Lions.

Matt Forte - Week One at Green Bay

After taking Forte in the top five, are you worried about being burned by the dreaded Sophomore Slump.

I don’t think its going to happen and here are five reasons (call it my Forte Five list).

Number One, his backup Kevin Jones was lost for the season after getting hurt in the preseason, meaning no real risk of Forte losing carries especially in the red zone.

Second, the Bears finally have an Elite QB meaning Defenses can't stack extra men in the box.

Third, Forte has actually gotten better catching the ball out of the backfield, meaning more catches for one of the leagues top dual threats.

Number 4, the Bears gave Forte plenty of time to rest in the preseason which should mean a well rested running back for the start of the regular season.

Finally and most important, the Bears have always been and always will be a running team, so expect plenty of carries for the 2nd year back.

His week one match up should be a good start to the season as he faces off with a Packers Defense that couldn't stop him last year when he reached the Century mark in total yardage in both meetings!
