Drew Brees set the tone for New Orleans (2-1) with 240 yards passing, including touchdowns to Devery Henderson and Robert Meachem.

Philip Rivers led two touchdown drives for the Chargers (1-2). His 167 yards passing included a 9-yard TD toss to Malcom Floyd. Antonio Gates caught five passes for 66 yards.

The Saints had a scare when starting middle linebacker Jonathan Vilma went down with a right groin injury early in the third quarter. He jogged off the field on his own and Vilma wrote "I'll be fine" on his Twitter account.

Brees was 18 of 27 and looked sharp for the most part, though his longest completion, a 46-yard touchdown to Henderson, looked like and ill-advised throw into coverage that was nearly intercepted.

Cornerback Antoine Cason saw the pass all the way, got inside position and went up for the interception near the goal line, but Henderson swiped from behind to break up the play and wound up tipping the ball to himself in the end zone.

The Chargers are hoping Cason, a 2008 first-round draft pick, can help fill the void left when the Chargers traded Antonio Cromartie to the New York Jets . Cason had a rough night against Brees and the Saints' high-powered offense, though.

He was victimized on New Orleans' second score when he anticipated a throw to the corner of the end zone, only to have Meachem cut underneath for an easy 15-yard catch to make it 14-7.

Brees' highlights including a 21-yard pass down the middle to Jeremy Shockey and a heady backhanded flip to Reggie Bush in the flat for a 38-yard gain that set up Garrett Hartley 's 40-yard field goal in the last minute of the first half. Bush wound up with seven receptions for 70 yards. Marques Colston had 55 yards on four catches.

San Diego's first-team offense put together two scoring drives in the first half. The Chargers opened the game with a balanced, 12-play, 82-yard touchdown drive. Jacob Hester capped it with a powerful 6-yard run on which he stretched across the goal line. Rivers was 5 of 6 for 44 yards on the drive, while first-round draft choice Ryan Mathews gained 32 yards on five carries, highlighted by a 16-yard run.

Journeyman Billy Volek replaced Rivers in the third quarter and was intercepted by Usama Young on a deep pass. He was later intercepted by Leigh Torrence, who went the other way for an 87-yard score in the final seconds.

Former Tulane quarterback Patrick Ramsey backed up Brees and was 10 of 18 for 191 yards and one TD.

The Saints, who have led the NFL in offense in three of the past four seasons, finished with 552 yards.

Saints reserve offensive tackle Zach Strief hurt his right knee, but the severity was not immediately known.

Hartley was perfect on field goal attempts of 40, 27 and 35 yards.

Volek was 9 of 21 for 97 yards. Mathews finished with 43 yards on 13 carries.

Fantasy Upside
Colston is what all fantasy owners love. We confidently put him into a category called "safe bets." He's gonna get you 70 catches, over a 1000 yards, and over 8TDs a year. Mark it down. His 2009 season was no exception (70-1074-9TD).

Fantasy Downside
Colston did have a little cleanup knee surgery in the offseason but reports are that it won't slow him down. Colston shares the field with some speedsters that average more yards per catch (Meachem/Henderson) but he's the unquestioned No. 1 in New Orleans.

Fantasy Bottom Line
Colston has an ADP of 27, 11th among WRs. I couldn't agree more, he fits in nicely behind Roddy White (22), Desean Jackson (23), and Greg Jennings (25). With Colston, you know what you are getting, a safe bet as a low end No. 1 WR.

Week 17
Colston @ Carolina

With the Saints expected to play it safe this week, this is no time to roll with Colston. The main offensive cogs will be lucky to play one half so put Colston on your bench.

Week 16
Colston vs. Tampa Bay

Colston had five grabs for 86 yards vs. Dallas last week and faces a Bucs team that he had 74 yards against earlier this season. There are no worries putting this guy in your lineup, he's a solid No. 1 each week.

Week 15
Colston vs. Dallas

Colston has been a stud all season and has nine touchdowns, third best in the NFL. He's also in a nice little stretch the last three weeks, averaging over 70 yards per game with a TD in each one. Nothing has changed, Colston is a sure-fire No. 1 receiver this week.

Week 14
Colston @ Atlanta

Colston has 167 yards and two touchdowns over the last two weeks as the Saints No. 1 WR. Those numbers are a little less than what the emerging Robert Meachem has done but that's actually a good thing. The more attention on Meachem, the more 1on1 coverage on Colston. As usual, he's a No. 1 fantasy WR.

Week 13
Colston at Washington

Colston recovered from a few rough outings with a monster game (121-TD) vs. the Saints. The Redskins offer more of a challenge with the 2nd best pass defense in the league but sitting Drew Brees' No. 1 receiver is never an option.

Week 12
Colston vs. Pats

After a pair of tough outings, Colston had a decent game with 74 yards. The Pats offer a tougher test but No.1 receivers (like Reggie Wayne) can perform well against them.

With this offense, Colston is always worth a start and is at worst, a high-end No. 2 this week.

Week 11
Colston @ Tampa Bay

Colston has been at his worst the last two games, combining for three catches and 62 yards with a lost fumble. That, of course, followed up a three-week span where he averaged over 100 yards per game and one score.

Considering the Bucs have allowed 19 passing TDs on the season, I believe we’ll see Colston return to form this week as a low-end No.1 WR.

Week 10
Colston @ St. Louis

Colston had a rare mediocre game with just one grab for 45 yards after three consecutive games in which he scored a TD.

He has a decent matchup with St. Louis this week as long as the Saints don't rush the ball all day. Colston, a low-end No. 1 this week, is a must-start each week.

Week 9
Colston vs. Carolina

Colston is averaging over 100 yards his last three games and has scored a TD in each one of them.

He's the hottest receiver in football (outside of Miles Austin) over the last three games so continue sliding him in the lineup as your No.1 WR.

Week 8
Colston vs. Seattle

This dude is a stud. He's put up 238 yards and two scores the last two weeks and is clearly Brees' go-to-guy for a big play.

Given what Miles Austin just did to the Falcons defense (171-2TD) and what Randy Moss did in week 3 (10-116), you have to love Colston this week as a No. 1 WR.

Week 7
Colston @ Miami

Colston was an absolute stud against the stout Giants defense with 166 yards and a TD, surprisingly his first 100-yard game of the season. He now has four TDs on the season and is a No. 1 WR on a week-to-week basis.

Even though Miami has held fellow No.1 WRs Roddy White (5-42) and Reggie Wayne (3-37) to below par games, you can't sit a player of Colston's caliber.

Colston
Week 6 vs. NYG

Colston is a No.1 WR for one of the league's better passing teams but he is still searching for his first 100yd game. In fact, he's averaging just 57 yards per game and is coming off a 33-yard game.

I don't recommend benching Colston but you have to be concerned since fellow No. 1 WRs Santana Moss, Roy Williams, and Dwayne Bowe were all held under 20 yards vs. the G-men. Start him and hope for a shootout.

Week 4 - Colston vs. NYJ

Colston hasn't broken the 100-yard barrier but is averaging about 65 yards/game with 3 TDs this season.

The good news, Colston is the clear-cut No. 1 WR for the league's top offense. The bad: they have already limited Andre Johnson and Randy Moss to 35 yards or FEWER. You have to start him as a No. 2 WR but this is certainly a tough matchup.

Week 3 - Colston @ Buffalo

Colston is off to a nice start with 128 yards and three touchdowns thru 2 games. Now comes a matchup with the Bills, who give up 332 yards passing yards per game.

Colston is always a must-start as Brees' No. 1 WR but considering Randy Moss went for 141 yards vs. Buffalo, expect nice results from Colston this week.

Week 2 - Colston @ Philly

Colston had 30 yards on three catches and a TD in the week 1 blowout of Detroit. But all that means is that Drew Brees still directed 323 yards passing in other directions.

Colston is the only Saints receiver we can confidently start week-to-week and this week is no different. Although the Eagles defense shut down Steve Smith last week (3-21), they'll have to focus on many more options with Devery Henderson, Lance Moore, and Robert Meachem on the field. Colston is a decent No.2 WR this week.

Week 1 - Colston vs Detroit

Colston was off to a good 2008 before going down with an injury and looks to start the same way as the No. 1 WR in the league’s top offense.  That makes him a must-start every week, especially in week 1 against the woeful Lions.

Even though the Saints, and even some high school/college teams, could run at will on Detroit, Brees and Co. won’t dismiss what makes them the best offense so they’ll throw plenty.  Expect Colston to perform as a solid No. 1 option this week.
