Eli Manning and Tom Brady are ready for the season, and so is Rhett Bomar .
Haven't heard of him? Well, he just might be the New York Giants ' backup quarterback.
Bomar probably nailed down the job, throwing a 60-yard scoring pass to Duke Calhoun with 1:49 to play as the Giants rallied for a 20-17 victory over the New England Patriots on Thursday night.
"It felt great," said Bomar, who completed 11 of 24 passes for 171 and one interception. "You always want to end the preseason on a good note. It was good to end it like that."
The 25-year-old Bomar assumed the backup job this week when veteran Jim Sorgi was placed on injured reserve with a shoulder problem. However, the Giants' concern was that the second-year pro has never played in a regular-season game, which might work against him if the team decides it wants a veteran to back up Manning.

FANTASY UPSIDE
Brady's best season came in 2007 when he threw for over 4,800 yards and 50 TDs. It seems unlikely that he'd suddenly surpass those numbers. Last season after returning from a devastating knee injury, Brady came back down to Earth and threw for 4,398 yards and 28 touchdowns. The Patriots lack of a consistent running game puts most of the offense on Brady's arm so it's safe to assume he'll at least match his numbers from 2009, if not surpass them now that Brady has a full healthy season under his belt.
FANTASY DOWNSIDE
To start the season, Brady and Moss will both be 33 years old and Welker is 29 and may miss time to start the season. A decline could be around the corner for any of them. Brady is being asked to command too much of the offense. In '09, he passed 565 times which is 35 attempts per game. The Pats have become one-dimensional, which leaves Brady on an island for blitzing. His knee injury was no fluke, teams are going after him. The reality is Brady could be hurt again, just as he was in the first game of the '08 season. The offense may also stall as most of the AFC is geared towards stopping the pass after about a decade of Peyton Manning and Tom Brady dominance.
FANTASY BOTTOM LINE
Brady is currently ranked fifth in 4for4's QB rankings and his average draft position is 34th. Brady could feasibly throw for 4,500+ yards and 35 touchdowns which would crush his totals from last season. But the Patriots have not done much to protect their investments on offense by drafting offensive linemen or adding any depth to the playmaker positions (RB and WR). The QB with the largest gap between upside and downside is a distinction that belongs to Brady. It is recommended to find a high-upside backup who could possibly fill in permanently in case Brady gets hurt again or the Patriots' offense takes a nosedive. Dynasties don't last forever.

Week 15 - Tom Brady vs. Texans
The Patriots need a win Sunday to lock up the No. 3 seed in the AFC. Because of that, Brady should play quite a bit against the Texans. He's coming off a huge game last week, so still consider Brady a strong fantasy option.

Week 16 - Tom Brady vs. Jaguars
Brady has killed fantasy owners over the last two weeks. In games against Carolina and Buffalo Brady has thrown for just 307 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. The good news is Brady takes on a Jaguars defense this week that is terrible against the pass. If Brady didn't cost you your season last week, give him another shot this Sunday, as he should have a much better outing against Jacksonville.

Week 15 - Tom Brady vs. Bills
Brady had one of his worst performances of the season against the Panthers, throwing for 192 yards, one touchdown and one interception. Brady is dealing with numerous minor injuries and now must travel to Buffalo where weather could play a factor on Sunday. Still, Brady has owned the Bills throughout his career, including a 378-yard performance back in Week 1. Brady is still a top QB1 this week.

Week 14 - Tom Brady vs. Panthers
Despite playing with an injured finger, Brady managed to throw for 352 yards and two touchdowns against Miami. However, he did toss two interceptions as well. Keep an eye on Brady's injury. As long as he's helthy, Brady is a must-start this week against Carolina.

Week 13 - Tom Brady vs. Dolphins
Brady had a tough night against the Saints, throwing for 237 yards, no touchdowns and two interceptions. However, in the five games prior Brady topped 300 yards each time and threw 14 touchdowns to just four interceptions. Brady is once again a must-start this week against Miami.

Week 12 - Tom Brady vs. Saints
Brady threw for 310 yards last week against the Jets, his fifth straight game with at least 300 yards passing. Brady faces the Saints on Monday night in what should be an offensive shootout. Brady continues to be one of the top fantasy quarterbacks and is an obvious must-start once again this week.

Week 11 - Tom Brady vs. Jets
Brady threw for 375 yards and three scores against the Colts. He has now topped 300 yards in four straight games. Brady had his worst outing of the season the first time New England and the Jets met back in Week 2 but he rarely plays poorly against the same team twice in one year.
Brady is a must-start and one of fantasy football's top performers right now.

Week 10 - Tom Brady vs. Colts
Brady threw for 322 yards and a touchdown against Miami, marking the third straight week he has eclipsed 300 yards. You can bet Brady will attack the beat up Colts secondary early and often on Sunday night. As always, Brady is a must start this week.

Week 9 - Tom Brady vs. Dolphins
Brady has hit his stride over the last two games, throwing for 688 yards and nine touchdowns. Those games were against the Titans and Bucs and while Brady steps up in class this week to take on Miami, he's still a must-start in all leagues.

Week 7 - Tom Brady vs. Bucs
Brady had a record-breaking day against the woeful Titans, throwing for 380 yards and six touchdowns. The six touchdowns equaled Brady's total from the first five games.
Brady may not toss five TD passes in the second quarter again this week but he has another favorable match-up against the Bucs. The game is in London, so the only thing that can slow down Brady on Sunday is Jet lag.

Week 6 - Tom Brady vs. Titans
Brady hasn't had the monster games fantasy owners were expecting from him this season but he's been consistent, averaging 215 yards passing and throwing for six touchdowns through five games.
Brady's huge game could come this week against Tennessee. The Titans defense ranks second to last in the NFL defending the pass, allowing 288 yards per game through the air.
Brady is an obvious must-start this week against a Titans secondary that is now playing without three of its original starters because of injuries.

Week 5 - Tom Brady vs. Broncos
Brady threw for 258 yards and a touchdown last week against a tough Ravens defense. He still doesn't look all the way back from his knee injury but Brady is still putting up solid fantasy numbers through four games.
This Sunday Brady faces another tough test versus a strong Broncos defense but he remains a No. 1 fantasy quarterback in all leagues.

Week - Tom Brady vs. Ravens
Brady still hasn't looked like his old self this season, passing for 871 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions.
Like Brady, the Ravens pass defense isn't what it has been in previous seasons. Still, Baltimore has one of the most talented defenses in the league, so this isn't a great match-up for Brady. However, he's still a must-start in all leagues this week.

Week 3 - Tom Brady vs. Falcons
Brady admitted this week that he isn't where he would like to be with his throwing mechanics yet because of the knee injury he suffered last season.
Last week the Jets hounded Brady all game long and he had about as bad of a performance that a player of his caliber can. However, Brady was playing without Wes Welker and few teams, if any, will apply the kind of pressure that the Jets did.
Brady usually rebounds from a poor outing with a great game and I expect that will be this case this week against the Falcons. If you own Brady he should be in your starting lineup every week.

Week 2 - Tom Brady vs. Jets
After a slow start in the opener, Brady rebounded to rip the Buffalo Bills for 378 yards and two touchdowns. This Sunday will be a little tougher test as Brady and the Pats take on a Jets defense that held Houston's Matt Schaub to just 18-of-33 for 166 yards. Gang Green also sacked Schaub twice and picked him off once.
Brady last played against the Jets in 2007, where he had one great game and one poor outing but that was against a different coaching staff and defensive scheme. Despite New York's defense dominating in Week 1, Brady remains a must-start in all fantasy leagues.

Brady should light it up in Week 1 against a Bills defense that ranked 28th in the NFL last season with just 24 sacks. Any team that gives Brady time in the pocket pays a price and that will most likely be the case on Monday night. Brady may be without Wes Welker but he still has plenty of weapons at his disposal to put up big numbers in his official return to the field following last year's knee injury.
