Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez has undergone surgery on his injured right shoulder today.
The surgery, which will end Sanchez's season, was performed by Dr. James Andrews, whom Sanchez has consulted over the past weeks.
Sanchez's rehab attempt didn't work out so he's finished for 2013 and likely played his last game as a NY Jet with the emergence of Geno Smith.

Getting back on the field for the Jets is the first step. Mark Sanchez is currently dealing with a bruised shoulder which has him on the brink of losing his starting job. At best, Sanchez might start the majority of the 2013 season and overachieve by finishing as a low-end QB2 for fantasy owners.
Hitting the bench would be the downside. Clipboard duty might be Sanchez's future should the Jets opt to play for the future by inserting Geno Smith into the starting lineup.
Well, Sanchez had a good ride when it lasted. He came into the league and game-managed his way to back-to-back AFC Championship games. He has a 4-2 record in the playoffs. This appears to be the end of the line. If Smith is the starter in Week 1, he'll probably be a backup for the rest of his career.
