The Pittsburgh Steelers said they wanted to run the ball more often when they parted with offensive coordinator Bruce Arians this offseason, but QB Ben Roethlisberger hasn't noticed too much of a change under Todd Haley, the Pro Bowl quarterback told NFL Network's Rich Eisen.

"I get a little confused at times because so much has been made about us, quote-unquote, throwing the ball too much, or going back to Steeler football and running the ball more," Roethlisberger said on Rich Eisen's podcast, which will air Thursday on NFL Network at 1:30 p.m. ET.

"In these meetings I've had with Coach Haley, he's all about the no-huddle and using our wide-receiver weapons and throwing the ball and stuff like that," Roethlisberger said.

Ben Roethlisberger vs. Broncos

Roethlisberger announced a setback this week with his injured ankle, but he's been practicing and will play. He hasn't been nearly as effective since injuring his ankle against the Browns, but part of that has been because he faced the 49ers on the road on one leg and the Browns in 45 mph winds last week. He should be better this week if the weather cooperates. The Broncos allowed 24 TD passes with just nine interceptions this season and opposing QBs averaged 7.5 yards per pass attempt. Without Briwn Dawkins roaming the secondary, the Broncos could be hurting badly at safety, not a good thing against the Steelers' speedy receivers.

Ben Roethlisberger, Week 17
Roethlisberger will start this week and has looked pretty agile in practice. The Steelers would love to get a big lead and get him out of the game early, but Cleveland's defense may prohibit that. Regardless, he'll spend a lot of time handing off. I do think, however, he'll top the 191 yards projected.

Ben Roethlisberger, Week 16
After playing injured last week, it appears the Steelers will sit Roethlisberger this week at home against St. Louis. He'll likely be active as the No. 2 QB, but Charlie Batch will start and could put up decent numbers against the Rams.

Ben Roethlisberger, Week 15
Roethlisberger has obviously been hobbled this week with a high ankle sprain. But if anyone can play with that kind of injury, it's Roethlisberger, who has played through a fracture in his foot and thumb already this season. That said, if he does play, his trademark ability to buy time will be limited. But the Steelers will obviously have to throw the ball to move it consistently against San Francisco. You'll know for sure by Saturday if he's playing. If he practices in some form or fashion, he's going to go.

Ben Roethlisberger, Week 14

Don't get too wrapped up in Cleveland's top-ranked pass defense. The only reason it's ranked where it's at because the Browns are so easy to run on. The Steelers are going to come out throwing and then switch to their running game if/once they get a lead. Roethlisberger may not have huge numbers this week, but 200-plus yards and a couple of scores are definitely in the cards.

Ben Roethlisberger, Week 13
Roethlisberger had his first sub-200-yard game last week at Kansas City, but it was more from some drops that his receivers had as much as anything. Cincinnati's pass defense has been tough this season, but without top corner Leon Hall, the Steelers will move the ball through the air. Roethlisberger is a solid start this week.

Ben Roethlisberger, Week 12
Don't worry about Roethlisberger's thumb injury. He has played through this same injury before - in 2005 - and played well. Kansas City has given up 18 touchdown passes and Roethlisberger should add to that total. Though Roethlisberger doesn't get the fantasy love of some other QBs, he's a must-start over most.

Ben Roethlisberger, Week 10
Roethlisberger has thrown for more than 300 yards in each of the past three games for the first time in his career. The Bengals are allowing 217 yards passing per game and haven't given up more than 20 points in a game all year. But Roethlisberger is playing the best football of his career. Even with a tough matchup, you can't bench him.

Ben Roethlisberger, Week 9
Roethlisberger is on the best roll of his career in the past month, but here come the Ravens. Don't get too caught up in the Week 1 debacle at Baltimore, though. In eight career games vs. the Ravens, Roethlisberger has 15 TDs and 6 interceptions with a passer rating of 94.1. He's still a solid start this week despite the tough matchup.

Ben Roethlisberger, Week 8
Roethlisberger is starting to get into the groove and has eight TD passes in the past three weeks. The Steelers are going to come out firing against the Patriots and Roethlisberger threw for 387 yards and three touchdowns against the Patriots in 2010. Don't be surprised to see similar numbers this time around.

Ben Roethlisberger, Week 7
After a hot start last week against Jacksonville, Roethlisberger struggled with the wind in the second half and missed on some deep balls. That won't be a problem indoors at Arizona. And the Cardinals' secondary is allowing 7.99 yards per attempt this season and 13.2 yards per completion. Roethlisberger should be excellent this week.

Ben Roethlisberger, Week 6
Like a cornered animal, Roethlisberger seems to be more dangerous when injured. He's still a little banged up. I wouldn't expect another five-touchdown outburst, but Roethlisberger should be solid again this week.

Ben Roethlisberger, Week 5
Roethlisberger is going to play this week, but faces a tough Tennessee defense that is allowing just 9.3 yards per reception. It appears the Steelers will start newly re-signed Max Starks at left tackle, so that should help with some protection issues. The fact that he's a little hobbled may actually help Roethlisberger as well. He's not as likely to hold the ball so long and may look for more quick passes. Roethlisberger is putting up yards. He just needs to start adding the TD passes.

Ben Rothlisberger, Week 4
Roethlisberger is coming off his best yardage day of the season and it could have been better if not for some drops. He's getting sacked too much, again. But he's at fault for some of that. Mike Wallace has turned into an elite WR and he and Roethlisberger are hooking up early and often. Roethlisberger should be a solid start this week, even working behind a makeshift line in what should be a shootout.

Ben Roethlisberger, Week 3
After a tough game at Baltimore in Week 1, Roethlisberger rebounded in Week 2, despite taking a shot on his right knee. The Steelers figure to attack the Colts on the ground this week to slow the pass rush and help out rookie right tackle Marcus Gilbert. Roethlisberger is an OK start this week, but the Steelers figure to win this one going away, even at Lucas Oil Stadium.

Ben Roethlisberger, Week 2
Roethlisberger is coming off his worst game in several years - even though he did throw for 280 yards and a touchdown. He accounted for five turnovers - three interceptions and two fumbles - and will be looking to put that effort behind him. Considering the Seahawks allowed Alex Smith to complete 75 percent of his passes last week, look for a big rebound game from Roethlisberger.

Ben is a great buy low candidate.

Ben Roethlisberger, Week 1
Roethlisberger is 9-2 as a starter against the Ravens with 17 touchdown passes and nine interceptions. He also faces a Baltimore secondary that has just one player who started a game in 2010. That player is Ed Reed, but Roethlisberger does a good job of staying away from Reed and working elsewhere. He should be a very solid start this week working with one of the top young receiver groups in the game.
