New Jets WR coach Sanjay Lal spoke with Santonio Holmes a few times after taking the job, but they could not discuss football until the offseason program began in April. For the past five weeks, Lal has gotten to watch Holmes work up close. Lal said Holmes has been, “very eager, very football-hungry, very competitive.”
“He’s been great,” said tackle Wayne Hunter, who was one of the players who fought with Holmes in Miami. “Santonio has been great. He’s been doing extra stuff that people wouldn’t believe. He’s been doing extra with Mark. He’s been doing stuff that he hasn’t done in the past. He’s been a team player, and it’s been a good change.”

Week 14 vs Kansas City
LAST WEEK: Santonio Holmes tallied 4 receptions for 58 yards. 1 TD.
INJURY STATUS: No injury listed. Confirmed for Week 14 at Kansas City.

Even though all expectations are for the Jets to run the ball, Holmes will be needed for another 4-5 receptions and a number of targets to keep the chains moving. On a sour note, Holmes has yet to top the 100-yard mark in receiving this season.

LAST WEEK: Bye week
INJURY STATUS: Full practice. No injury listed. Confirmed for Week 9 at Buffalo.
OUTLOOK: 9 receptions for 144 yards and two TDs does not have Santonio Holmes happy. Holmes continues to make noise about not seeing enough targets. Not only do Fantasy GMs agree but NFL pundits concur. After breaking down game footage, Holmes is clearly open on several occasions. The finger is now being pointed at QB Mark Sanchez but with the success of ground and pound, the Jets coaching staff want Holmes to "fall in line." Buffalo defense ranks 19th against the run and 24th against the pass. Holmes remains a must start in most league formats. Fantasy owners have to be reasonable with their expectations given Jets offensive strategy.

Week 7 vs San Diego
LAST WEEK: Santonio Holmes notched 3 receptions for 63 yards and 1 TD.
INJURY STATUS: Full practice. No injury listed. Confirmed for Week 7 vs San Diego.
OUTLOOK: Touchdowns are limited with QB Mark Sanchez' 56.1 completion rate but Santonio Holmes continues to find the end zone. Although the Chargers rank #2 against the pass and #17 against the run, consider Holmes a solid #2 WR in most league formats. The Jets are expected to lean on the running game to open up the passing game. Exceptions should be tempered given lack of production in the passing game.

Week 6 vs Miami
LAST WEEK: Santonio Holmes notched 4 receptions for 60 yards and 1 TD.
INJURY STATUS: Full practice. No injury listed. Confirmed for Week 6 vs Miami (on MNF).
OUTLOOK: Holmes came back to life last week given the Jets were behind on the scoreboard all game. With the Dolphins looking for answers on defense, the Jets will utilize a heavy does of Shonn Greene and LT to open up the pass. Its safe to assume Holmes may find the end zone again this week. The Dolphins rank 17th against the run and 27th against the pass. Big game to win back "gang green" faithful at home on Monday Night Football. Consider Holmes a solid #2 or low-end #1 WR play depending on league size. The Dolphins have allowed an average of 27 points to opposing WRs.

Week 5 @ New England
LAST WEEK: Santonio Holmes notched 3 receptions for 33 yards and 0 TD.
INJURY STATUS: Full practice. No injury listed. Confirmed for Week 5 @ New England.
OUTLOOK: Despite being the most targeted receiver on the Jets offense in week 4, Holmes was shut down by both the Ravens Defense and QB Mark Sanchez inaccuracy. Expect the amount of targets to continue. New England ranks 18th against the run and 29th against the pass. Center Nick Mangold's return provides a big boost to pass protection. Consider Holmes a solid option in week 5 against the Patriots, who are one of the best matchups for passing attacks in the NFL.

Week 4 @ Baltimore
LAST WEEK: Santonio Holmes notched 1 reception for 19 yards and 0 TD.
INJURY STATUS: Shoulder - Full practice. Probable for Week 4 at Baltimore

Holmes openly complained about the Jets offense this week after only seeing two targets last Sunday. "You can't be forced to continue doing the same things when those guys are doing something different. We have to open up the game plan a little bit and have a little bit more fun." The Ravens defense ranks 6th against the run and 17th against the pass. Consider him a solid #2 WR in all league formats.

Week 1 vs Dallas
2010: Santonio Holmes notched 52 receptions for 746 yards and 6 TDs. This production includes the fact that Holmes was suspended for the first 4 games last season.
INJURY STATUS: Full practice. No injury listed. Confirmed for Week 1 vs Dallas.
OUTLOOK: Given a weak preseason showing by the Cowboys secondary, Holmes should be considered a solid #1 receiver this Sunday. It will be difficult to double-team Holmes as the Jets offensive personnel present match-up problems for most defenses.
