Redskins coaches head into the offseason feeling upbeat about the team’s running backs: Roy Helu, Evan Royster and Tim Hightower.
“You can see we have some depth,” head coach Mike Shanahan said. “I think Roy has done a fantastic job as well as Royster coming in and taking advantage of an opportunity. I though Tim did a great job before he got hurt. So we have some depth at that position.”
Added offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan: “You feel like you have two guys who can help you in the future.”

Week 7 @ Carolina
LAST WEEK: No stats recorded (although announced as team starter, he did not play).
INJURY STATUS: Shoulder - Full practice. Probable for Week 7 at Carolina
OUTLOOK: The good news is that RB Tim Hightower put in a full week of practice. He is close to 100% health. The bad news is the Redskins backfield is clearly a committee situation. The Panthers defense ranks 11th against the pass and 31st against the run. This is a typical Mike Shanahan situation where he drives fantasy owners to the brink of craziness. With Carolina struggling against the run and a new starting QB for the burgundy and gold, one can only assume a heavy does of the running game. However, stay tuned for game announcements for a starting running back to possibly emerge.
