Fantasy Football Notes

NFL Week #9
Essential Practice Notes from Thursday
 10-30-2008

Bucs RB Warrick Dunn (back) isn’t expected to play this weekend. He’s yet to be ruled out, but plan accordingly.
---

Worth noting, the Bucs one time stud RB Carnell Williams is working with the team and Coach Gruden is optimistic. “He really looked good today. “ He could be 2-3 weeks away.
---

Cardinals WR Early Doucet was slowed in practice Thursday after hurting his groin. For now, we believe he’s going to be ok.
---

Cardinals TE Ben Patrick (knee) was limited at practice Wednesday and did not practice Thursday. He’s very iffy for this weekend.
---

Cardinals TE Leonard Pope (ankle) has yet to practice this week and he’s not someone to count on this weekend.
---

The Cardinals have kicker Neil Rackers (right calf) on the injury report but he’s kicking and expected to play as normal.
---

Falcons RB Jerious Norwood remains iffy due to his concussion. He could get more reps Friday but still remains questionable. He may well be treated as a game time call. Plan accordingly.
---

Falcons WR Laurent Robinson (knee) should be able to play this weekend.
---

Ravens RB Le'Ron McClain (ankle) took reps Wednesday and Thursday. He should be able to play this week.
---

As usual, the Ravens are giving RB Willis McGahee (ankle) some reps off at practice. Once again, he should be OK.
---

Ravens TE Todd Heap (neck) was limited at practice Wednesday but did more Thursday. Barring a setback, look for Heap to start this week.
---

Bills QB Trent Edwards (ankle) showed up on the injury report Thursday, but he remains on track to start.
---

Bears WR Brandon Lloyd (knee) continues to get some work in at practice, including more reps on Thursday. Still, Lloyd is not 100% and not someone to bank on this weekend even if he dresses out.
---

Bengals QB Carson Palmer (right elbow) was ruled out for week nine.
---

Bengals WR Andre Caldwell (foot) was ruled out for the week.
---

As of now, Bengals TE Ben Utecht (chest) is expected to play this weekend.
---

Browns WR Donte' Stallworth (quadricep) was limited at practice Wednesday and Thursday. He remains iffy for this weekend.
---

Cowboys QB Tony Romo (right finger) did not practice Wednesday or Thursday. He’s expected to return after the Cowboys bye week.
---

Cowboys RB Felix Jones (hamstring) is said to be week-to-week. Don’t count on him this weekend. He’s not practicing.
---

Cowboys TE Jason Witten (ribs) did not practice Wednesday or Thursday. While the Cowboys may elect to treat him as a game time call, he’s not someone to be counting on this weekend. He’s very questionable.
---

Broncos RB Michael Pittman (ribs) did more work Thursday and remains on track to start this weekend. Selvin Young and Andre Hall are iffy at best.
---

Denver rookie RB Ryan Torain (elbow) is practicing and could play this weekend but he’s not someone to count on (yet).
---

Broncos WR Brandon Marshall (groin) should be able to start as normal this weekend. He’s getting reps in at practice.
---

Broncos WR Brandon Stokley (concussion) will likely be a game time call. Look elsewhere.
---

Broncos TE Tony Scheffler (groin) is taking limited reps this week. Friday will be a key day here. Right now he’s still questionable for the week.
---

Even after a bye, Packers QB Aaron Rodgers (right shoulder) continues to rest his arm at practice. This has been the normal pattern for weeks now and he plays.
---

Texans RB Ahman Green (thigh) did not practice Wednesday or Thursday. He’s not someone to count on this week.
---

Texans WR Kevin Walter (knee) should be ok after returning to the practice field on Thursday.
---

Colts RB Joseph Addai (hamstring) took reps Wednesday and Thursday. He’s expected to get the start for Indy this week.
---

Colts RB Dominic Rhodes (ankle) did not practice Wednesday but took reps Thursday. Rhodes should be able to backup Addai this weekend.
---

Colts WR Reggie Wayne (knee) is expected to get some work in Friday after resting both Wednesday and Thursday. Stay tuned, as they will know more after drills tomorrow.
---

Jaguars WR Mike Walker (knee) did not practice Wednesday and was ruled out for the week.
---

Jaguars WR Reggie Williams (hamstring) was limited at practice Wednesday and Thursday. He should be ready for this weekend.
---

Jaguars K Josh Scobee’s thumb problem should not stop him from kicking this weekend. He’s practicing this week.
---

Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles is iffy for week nine due to his ankle. We’ll have more Friday.
---

The Vikings expect WR Sidney Rice (knee) to play this weekend. Still, Bobby Wade has earned the right to be on the field even if Rice’s knee holds up.
---

Patriots RB LaMont Jordan (calf) is doing some work this week so that’s a good sign. Still, look for them to treat him as a game time call. Regardless, Kevin Faulk and rookie BenJarvus Green-Ellis will also be in the mix.
---

Word is Patriots RB Sammy Morris (knee) remains a long shot for this weekend.
---

Patriots WR Randy Moss (foot) got back to a full workout Thursday. He remains on track to start.
---

Jets WR Laveranues Coles (thigh) was limited at practice Wednesday and Thursday. The Jets will likely list him as questionable for week nine but he’s probable.
---

Barring a setback Friday, WR Jerricho Cotchery (shoulder) will start this weekend.
---

Jets K Mike Nugent (right thigh) has already been ruled out for the week.
---

Oakland RB Darren McFadden is now dealing with two turf toe problems and is looking less likely for week nine. We’ll have more after Friday’s practice but we’re not expecting much.
---

Eagles RB Brian Westbrook (rib, ankle) is practicing without issue and is set to start in week nine.
---

Eagles WR Reggie Brown (groin) took reps Wednesday and Thursday. He should be able to play as the team’s #3 WR this weekend.
---

Eagles WR DeSean Jackson (shoulder) took reps Wednesday and Thursday. Look for the rookie to once again start this week.
---

Eagles TE L.J. Smith (concussion) is not someone to count on this week. Look for Smith to be ruled out this weekend.
---

Steelers RB Willie Parker (knee) took reps Wednesday and Thursday. We expect Parker to be back in the lineup this week for the Steelers and he should get 15 to 20 carries, sharing some time with Mewelde Moore as Pittsburgh eases him back into the lineup.
---

Seahawks QB Matt Hasselbeck (back) was ruled out on Wednesday.
---

WR Deion Branch (heel) will not play in week nine.
---

The Seahawks are limiting WR Koren Robinson’s reps due to his knee but he should be able to start this weekend.
---

Rams RB Steven Jackson (thigh) is getting quality reps in (albeit in a limited fashion) this week including Thursday. He should be able to answer the bell this weekend but plan to treat him as a game time decision. The team largely remains noncommittal about Jackson’s status.
---

Rams WR Drew Bennett (foot) isn’t someone to count on. He did not practice Wednesday or Thursday. Regardless, rookie WR Donnie Avery remains the Rams receiver to own.
---

Redskins RB Clinton Portis (ankle) did not practice Wednesday or Thursday. The team continues to give him time to rest. Look for Portis to do some work Friday and start this weekend.
---

Redskins WR Santana Moss (hamstring) did not practice Wednesday or Thursday. Still, they expect him to start as normal.
---
