NFL Week #9
Essential Practice Notes from Friday
 10-31-2008

After coming up sore in Thursday’s practice, Cardinals WR Early Doucet (groin) is now questionable for week nine. Look elsewhere as Steve Breaston remains the team’s clear #3 receiver.
---

Cardinals TE Ben Patrick (knee questionable) was limited at practice Friday. In addition, TE Leonard Pope (ankle) will not play. All this is good news for Steve Breaston.
---

As we told you yesterday, Cardinals K Neil Rackers (right calf) is expected to kick in week nine. Today, they listed him as probable.
---

Falcons RB Jerious Norwood is questionable with a concussion. He was limited at practice Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. The concussion is a mild grade so he could play this weekend.
---

Falcons WR Laurent Robinson (knee) is listed as questionable but he’s expected to play this weekend.
---

Ravens RB Le'Ron McClain (ankle) is on the team’s injury report but he’s expected to play this weekend.
---

Ravens RB Willis McGahee (ankle) wasn’t 100% at practice and was limited both Thursday and Friday. Still, he’s expected to start this weekend. That said, we believe Ray Rice could tally about 65-yards and that will eat into McGahee’s touches.
---

Ravens TE Todd Heap (neck probable) took reps Friday and will be able to play this weekend.
---

Ravens TE Daniel Wilcox (thigh) missed his third consecutive day of practice and will not play Sunday.
---

Bills QB Trent Edwards (ankle probable) is set to start as normal this Sunday against the Jets.
---

Bills RB Marshawn Lynch took reps Friday and will start.
---

Bills WR Josh Reed (ankle) was ruled out for week nine.
---

Bears WR Marty Booker (knee probable) took reps Thursday and Friday. He’s ready to play.
---

Bears WR Brandon Lloyd (knee questionable) was limited at practice Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. He’s not someone to count on this week. Lloyd himself did not sound upbeat about his chances.
---

Bengals WR Chad Johnson (foot probable) took reps Wednesday and Thursday but was limited at practice Friday. We never like it when a WR is added to the injury report late in the week. To be safe, treat him as a game time call Sunday and have a backup plan.
---

Bengals TE Reggie Kelly (neck) should be able to play this weekend.
---

Bengals TE Ben Utecht (chest probable) took reps all week and is expected to be returning to his starting role in week nine.
---

Browns RB Jamal Lewis took reps Friday and is a go, however his blocking buddy FB Lawrence Vickers (ankle) is doubtful.
---

Browns WR Donte' Stallworth (quadricep questionable) was limited at practice Wednesday-Friday. Many questions surround the brittle Stallworth this week, look elsewhere.
---

Cowboys RB Felix Jones (hamstring) is a scratch for week nine.
---

Cowboys TE Jason Witten (ribs questionable) did not practice Friday. As we told you yesterday, it’s looking as if Witten will sit against the Giants this Sunday.
---

Broncos RBs Michael Pittman (ribs), Selvin Young (groin), Andre Hall (ankle) and Ryan Torain (elbow) are all listed as questionable. Pittman and Torain have the best chance to play and Pittman would start.
---

Broncos WR Brandon Marshall (groin) took reps Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. He’s expected to start.
---

Broncos WR Brandon Stokley (concussion questionable) was limited in practice all week. Look elsewhere, even if he plays, he could be limited.
---

Broncos TE Tony Scheffler (groin questionable) was limited at practice Friday but he did enough this week to suggest he’s really more probable than 50-50. To be extra safe, treat him as a game time call.
---

Lions TE Casey Fitzsimmons (ribs) will be a scratch this weekend.
---

Barring a very unlikely setback, Packers QB Aaron Rodgers (right shoulder) will start as normal this Sunday.
---

Packers WR Jordy Nelson did not work with the team Friday and is questionable due to his ankle acting up at practice this week. It’s a game time call.
---

Texans RB Ahman Green (thigh questionable) was limited at practice Friday. He’s not someone to count on either way as Houston has Ryan Moats available for backup duty.
---

Texans WR Kevin Walter (knee) is probable to start after taking full reps Thursday and Friday.
---

Colts RB Joseph Addai (hamstring) took reps all week including Friday. The team expects him to start.
---

Colts RB Dominic Rhodes (ankle) is expected to be available this week.
---

Colts WR Reggie Wayne (knee questionable) did not practice Wednesday or Thursday. As we told you yesterday, on Friday he did some limited work. If you want to be extra safe, treat him as a game time call but barring a setback, he should be able to play.
---

Colts TE Tom Santi (shoulder) is very iffy for week nine.
---

Jaguars WR Reggie Williams (hamstring) is likely to play Sunday.
---

Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles is a fast healer and he’s now expected to play despite his sore ankle. He did some limited work at practice Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
---

The NFL suspended RB Larry Johnson for the KC game against SD on 11/9. Johnson will also be inactive against Tampa. Should you drop Johnson now? If you have other RB options, wait until after the KC-SD game and then see where Johnson is headed.
---

As we suggested to you, the Vikings expect WR Sidney Rice (knee probable) to play this weekend. Still, Bobby Wade will be in the mix as well as the Vikings best WR, Bernard Berrian.
---

Patriots RB LaMont Jordan (calf) is listed as questionable but he’s really closer to probable after taking some work each day this week. Treat him as a game time call and recall the Pats also will use Faulk and rookie Green-Ellis at RB.
---

Patriots RB Sammy Morris (knee) has all but been ruled out for week nine. Look elsewhere.
---

Patriots WR Randy Moss (foot) will start as normal.
---

Amazing, the Jets actually correctly listed WR Laveranues Coles (thigh) as probable this week! Look for Coles to start as normal.
---

Jets WR Jerricho Cotchery (shoulder) is probable and should start as normal this Sunday. He practiced some again on Friday.
---

Jets TE Chris Baker (hip) is a game time call however TE Bubba Franks (hip) will be ruled out.
---

Raiders RB Darren McFadden (toe) did not practice all week and is not expected to play.
---

Eagles RB Brian Westbrook (rib, ankle) is a go for week nine.
---

Eagles WR Reggie Brown (groin) should be able to play in week nine.
---

Eagles WR DeSean Jackson (shoulder) is expected to start in week nine. He took reps again on Friday.
---

Coming as no surprise, the Eagles ruled TE John L.J. Smith out for Sunday.
---

Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger (right shoulder) is probable and will start.
---

As we told you Thursday, the Steelers expect RB Willie Parker (knee) to play this week. He took reps again on Friday.
---

Reminder, Seahawks QB Matt Hasselbeck was ruled out for the week.
---

Seahawks RB Leonard Weaver is questionable due to his foot. He’s not someone to count on.
---

Seahawks WR Deion Branch (heel) is out for at least one more week.
---

Seahawks WR Koren Robinson (knee) is expected to start this Sunday.
---

Seahawks TE Will Heller (knee) is a scratch for this weekend.
---

Rams RB Steven Jackson (thigh) was listed as questionable Friday after his third consecutive day of limited practice. As we told you yesterday, plan to treat Jackson as a game time call.
---

Bucs RB Warrick Dunn (back) is officially labeled as “questionable” but he did not practice this week and is not someone to consider.
---

Bucs WR Michael Clayton (knee questionable) took reps Thursday and Friday and should be able to play.
---

Bucs WR Ike Hilliard (shoulder questionable) did some work all week including Friday. He should be available as needed.
---

Redskins RB Clinton Portis (ankle probable) did some work at practice Friday and is expected to start Monday’s game.
---

Redskins WR Malcolm Kelly (knee) did not practice Friday and was ruled out for the week.
---

Redskins WR Santana Moss (hamstring questionable) did not practice Wednesday, Thursday or Friday. If he can practice Saturday he should be able to start. If not, look for a game time decision on Monday.
