Looking For A Weekly Bargain?
Each week you'll find a cross section of studs and journeymen in this report. In addition, you might even find a player that looks to be a real reach. Regardless of their current status, all the men on this report have one thing in common - they all look to be bargains - this week.
Note: this report does not override our Sortable Weekly Cheat Sheets. In fact, it's based on it. Here we're highlighting the bargains --- players we likely have ranked higher than most of your competitors.
Jets QB Mark Sanchez vs. Cowboys (4for4 Weekly Rank = 13 Avg Site = 23)
Per Coach Rex Ryan “our system is probably a little different than others. We’ll take probably more shots down field than some teams will. The big thing is wins. Protect the football and let’s find ways to get wins. If he’s at 55 and we’re winning games, it doesn’t (matter). I don’t have him on my Fantasy football team. I just want my quarterback to win.” Consider Sanchez a low end #1 QB this week in a good matchup, a decent replacement for Peyton Manning owners.
Raiders RB Darren McFadden @ Broncos (4for4 Weekly Rank = 2 Avg Site = 7)
In two games against Denver last year, McFadden totaled 354 total yards and four touchdowns. Stopping the run remains a major weakness for Denver’s defense, and McFadden could run wild in the Mile High City on Monday night. Darren has the look of a dominant RB1 this week.
Browns RB Peyton Hillis vs. Bengals (4for4 Weekly Rank = 4 Avg Site = 9)
In two games against Cincinnati last season, Hillis delivered a mixed bag. He gave fantasy owners 102 rushing yards and a touchdown in week four. Later in the season in week fifteen, Hillis was out of gas, and rushed for only 59 yards. A fresh Hillis should deliver big numbers on Sunday. He has top five potential this week and is a great start in all formats.
Patriots RB BenJarvus Green-Ellis @ Dolphins (4for4 Weekly Rank = 20 Avg Site = 26)
Green-Ellis averaged 78 rushing yards and a score between New England's two divisional games against the Dolphins last season. Miami's defense was a pleasant surprise last year for the most part but that doesn't mean they can't be exploited. With both of the Patriots rookie backs nursing injuries, now may be one of the best times to use BJGE this entire season.
Texans RB Derrick Ward vs. Colts (4for4 Weekly Rank = 16 Avg Site = 41)
Arian Foster isn't practicing this week and looks to be at best a game-time decision Sunday. If Foster is inactive, Ward is a borderline RB1 in a fantastic matchup with a Manningless Colts team that hasn't been able to stop the run in years. Ben Tate would also be in the mix, but Ward will be your starter. Even if Foster pulls it together and starts the game, Ward should still have some value.
Giants WR Mario Manningham @ Redskins (4for4 Weekly Rank = 14 Avg Site = 24)
Manningham will look to break out in his new starting role this week against the Redskins. With former starter Steve Smith in Philadelphia, the Giants will be counting on Manningham to step up in a big way. Even though he’s opposite star player Hakeem Nicks, there should be plenty of balls to go around and plenty of opportunities for Manningham to put up excellent fantasy points. Against last year’s second worst pass defense, look for him to excel as a solid WR2.
Seahawks WR Mike X Williams @ 49ers (4for4 Weekly Rank = 39 Avg Site = 53)
Williams only faced San Francisco once last season, coincidentally in the season opener, where he had four catches for 64 yards. With Tarvaris Jackson at QB, it’s recommended you keep Big Mike on your bench until the Seattle offense figures itself out and shows some signs of life. However, there is some cause for optimism as Sidney Rice (shoulder) could miss the game or see limited action.
Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski @ Dolphins (4for4 Weekly Rank = 8 Avg Site = 12)
When Gronkowski is an integral part of the gameplan, he can put up some big numbers, as evidenced by his Week 17 performance against the Dolphins where had six catches for 102 yards and a score. In his first game against Miami, he had one catch for four yards. If you own Gronkowski, that's part of the risk and at the same time, part of the appeal. Stick him in your lineup and hope for the best. Go big or go home.
Rams TE Lance Kendricks vs. Eagles (4for4 Weekly Rank = 12 Avg Site = 15)
Kendricks played his way onto the fantasy radar with a strong preseason. He already has a strong bond with Sam Bradford, and the Eagles have had some trouble defending tight ends in recent seasons. All kinds of positive signs are there with Kendricks, but it’s important to take a step back and remember he’s a rookie heading into his first game against a team many have tabbed as a serious Super Bowl contender.
If you have a proven veteran ahead of him on your depth chart, don’t start Lance. If your other tight end brings instability to the table, Kendricks is worth a gamble.
