Hi Scouts!

I've been working the phone lines pre-draft. I have the 2nd overall pick in our 12-team .5 ppr 2QB league and the owner who has pick 5 is looking to trade up (to select one of Rodgers or Luck likely).
Some more background: It's also the first year of a keeper league, so going forward these players can be kept. The compensation for keeping a player is giving up a pick in the same round the player was drafted in. This doesn't matter a ton in this scenario, just thought you'd want to know.
This is the offer.

I get: 5, 20 (second round) & 44 (4th round)
I give up: 2, 26 (third round) , and 47 (4th round)

So basically before the trade my first five picks are 2, 23,26, 47 and 50. After the trade my first 5 picks are five picks are 5, 20, 23, 44, and 50. My first impression is that it's good value. I'm going to get one of Bell/Peterson/Lacy/Rodgers with my first pick anyway - might as well pick at the bottom of the tier rather than at the top.

Let me know what you think. I may counter to get more out of him but we will see.

Honestly, I love it. I think moving down to 5, you still get a top notch back or WR and moving up in rounds is nice. The second rounders in the next couple of years will be big moves for you, so I'm all in. I say do it.

I was going to suggest instead of moving up in two rounds to flop a pick like you are talking about, where you take a pick of his higher in a round for one of yours lower in a round. I've done more trades that way but as the years have gone by, owners pretty much demand that you just flop in the same round and lose a few spots. I've always been the guy to have an extra keeper or trying to move down to be honest, I've never really been in a position to move up but I can see how he wouldn't want to do it for three spots. He may just talk himself into a tier of players like you have.

Maybe try to do his 3rd for your 5th or even 4th, if he'd do it for the 4th then maybe see if you can move up in a couple of rounds like the original deal too. I think you have to make it worth your while the more I'm thinking about this....

I don't think it's a bad deal, especially if you're happy to target the players you mentioned. You're moving up a couple of spots in some rounds so that's pretty good. You may be able to get him to swap a little more and I would probably at least try to see if you can pull that off. If he values your pick he just might do it. Just because you're happy to take any of a few players there doesn't mean you should give it up easy... But I could live with that deal.

Hi Scott and Brandon

Just an update on this. I've been talking to the guy and managed to get this deal out of him:

I recieve:

5th pick
20th pick
44th pick
2nd round pick 2016
2nd round pick 2017

I give up:

2nd pick
26th pick
47th pick
3rd round pick in 2016
4th round pick in 2017

I'm pretty tempted to take this, but I just wanted to run it by you guys to hear what you think. Even if I move down from 2 to 5, one of Lacy, JC, AP, Luck, Rodgers, or Bell will be there (in addition to all of the WRs). So what do you guys think of this offer?

How much more would you suggest asking? I'm trying to get his 3rd round pick for my 6th round but he's not budging. Any suggestions?
