I am in a $200 cap std league allowing team members to keep any or all players from the previous season providing one is under the cap. We start 1-2-2-1 with a and and D. Roster is typically 2-4-4-2-1-2 but can consist of any number of players at any position as long as you have enough for the weekly line up. I have Lacy, Murray, Ellington and previously considered dropping Murray to go after Gurley. Your opinion was keep Murray. Now I am considering dropping Ellington to go after Gurley as I am reading much about his skill set and big time potential plus he now has a up pointing arrow in your rankings. Currently the ESPN AV is $11 for Ellington and $16 for Gurley. I may have to pay upwards of $20 or more to get Gurley as I currently have $18 to fill 2 QB, 1 RB(bench) and 1WR (bench) and one D or K (bench) so in theory I have some cash $18 + $11 to allocate to going after Gurley $20 to $21 is probably my limit due to my other roster needs. . The question is : Is Gurley worth going after for the potential to have two #1 RB at some point latrer on in the season.

Gurley certainly has the potential to be an RB1 at some point, be it this season or next. But I seem to think it will happen this year at some point. They spent too much on him to have him split time. It seems like he's healthy and starting camp on the active roster. Those who follow the team think he'll be eased in. Might be the case but hard to imagine him not taking the lead at some point.

I like Ellington a little bit. But he seems a bit fragile. Like him more in a PPR, not sure what your league is. That said, I'd probably rather have Gurley in any format, but I can see someone loving the guy and maybe even going higher than the 20 or 21 you have to spend. Not sure if you'd be able to wait to drop Ellington after you got Gurley, or if you have to drop him first and then could eventually miss out on both?

I think you are in a good position with your backs as is. I certainly see why you'd want to upgrade for Gurley but Ellington as an RB3 puts you in a good spot too. i would certainly try it but use some caution depending on your rules so you don't wind up losing Ellington for no reason.
