I'm fairly deep at WR, having Odell, Dez, Martavis, D. Jackson, Diggs, Maclin. I've come to believe that Maclin will never post consistent numbers in the very cautious system of Alex Smith. Would it be silly to drop him and take a flier on Funchess with the notion that he may emerge as a strong WR3 for me? It would be difficult at this time to drop anything other than another WR to make room for him.
I'd have no issues doing that because it seems like Maclin won't ever see your lineup. I would agree with what I think you're saying here - that Funchess offers way more upside at this point.
