Hey Brandon and Scott!

Quick question for you. I have the 2nd pick in the first year of a keeper league (keep max 3 with no minimum. If kept, give up the round you selected a player in subsequent drafts). The league has 12 teams, is .5 ppr, and the roster make up is QB, RB, RB, WR, WR, WR, TE, Super flex (QB/WR/RB/TE), Flex (WR,RB,TE), K, Def, BNx5. With this all in mind, I was thinking of treating it like a 2 QB league and going with a QB (Rod/Luck) with my pick. Do you think this is the way to go, or should I rather acquire one of the top RBs?

Thanks again for all your help!

Ah ha... I got you now. I would still take Lacy. :)

I think going QB in that kind of league is nice, and I imagine they will get snatched up. However, the QB position remains deep and in all my 2QB leagues, I tend to go RB early, snatch a QB in the 4th and 8th rounds, and I usually get by just fine. I will stash a couple upside guys late at the QB position too in case they break out, which has worked out with guys like Russell Wilson in the past.

If you were picking sixth or something, and the top 3-4 backs and 2 WR's were off the board, I'd be more prone to go after Luck, but with the 2nd pick, I'd still go RB myself.

I think I get what you're asking, but I'd be curious who your other keepers are then... because if you're keeping 2WR and a TE, and you're looking at an elite RB on the board, I'd be prone to go with the back over Rodgers/Luck.

However, if you have some balance with your keepers, and you're looking at like the 10th RB and the 10th WR or something versus Luck/Rodgers, then I totally go QB.

I like the idea of using two QBs whenever possible in a league like yours, but I'm not sure I'd draft the second stud with that pick. Reason being is I think you can take a QB a little later on and still get pretty good value, allowing you to address other needs. It will also give you some more flexibility, because with those two QBs, you pretty much have to start them every week possible and that may not always work out based on matchups, etc.

Now, I will say, it's hard to not play those guys anyway and you probably can't ask for two better QBs to have on your roster. So I would maybe do some mocks with Draft Analyzer and see how you feel about your team with and without those two QBs. Not saying I'm not tempted, but I think I would go the direction of taking another position and wait a couple of rounds before taking my second QB.

I don't have any keepers currently. As a pool, we agreed that "keepers" would start next year, so next year this time is when we can keep a player that we drafted from this year/
Basically it all comes down to whether I'd want to draft Luck/Rodgers with that 2nd pick, or take AP/Bell/Lacy with it. In prior years, QB7/RB10/WR7 are all available by pick 23 (my next pick after pick 2), so that definitely factors into the decision. What say you?

Sorry let me clarify. If you select a player and choose to keep him, you give up the draft pick of the same round that you selected that player in upcoming drafts (i.e. I keep Calvin Johnson and I drafted him 2nd. So I forfeit a 2nd round pick in the next draft).
