I'm going to be drafting in a 12 team PPR league, 20 rounds, 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 2 Flex, 1 D and 1 K. There will be no trading throughout the season and you get $1000 for the year to pick up free agents. This is done auction style with blind bidding, which can start at $1. I'm thinking I can stream defenses and kickers pretty cheaply, but I'm wondering about my draft strategy. Should I reach a bit for high upside rookies or handcuffs to avoid blowing my FA budget or stack my team with safe volume players? Also, chance to win $200,000, so if I win, free subs to 4for4 for every man, woman and child in America!

That's quite a promise, I think we're all hoping you win now! :)

I agree with the streaming of defenses and kickers. $1,000 is a pretty good budget to work with. In leagues like yours, I'm especially cautious of guys with rough injury histories, because it can be expensive to replace them. So the biggest thing I'd do is let other people grab guys like RG3, Rob Gronkowski, Danny Amendola, etc.

Beyond that, I'd approach it with the usual thoughts in mind. Identify early guys you're willing to overpay, try not to overpay more than 1-3 studs, and then fill out your roster with bargains off our Auction Values sheet.

In your league, I wouldn't reach for rookies or handcuffs, but I might look for bargains. Late in the draft, I would try to grab at least one guy at each of the QB/RB/WR position that is steady that you can plug in if you end up stuck one week. I've been targeting Rivers/D. Williams/Boldin, and getting all of them for the minimum dollar amount. Obviously, you don't want to pay more than that... but guys like that can save you money later on, and they're cheaper on draft day then they are later in the season when guys start going down.

Good luck!
