Hello Scouts! Here's to another good year with the site! First draft of the season is coming up and I have the 9th pick. Let's assume that the top 4 RB's all go in order, Graham, Megatron and Manning are gone too. (Which is likely in this league) In some mocks I've been able to get Manning, however. Where do I look to next? If I go straight by the book, PC Drafter generally has me taking M.Ball, but I think that's a bit rich for him. Do I look to D.Thomas or someone? Any thoughts?

I probably wouldn't take Manning at 9, but your league sounds like the one I run with my friends where everyone jumps on QB. I give 6 points for passing TD as well. I can't get a read in my draft what direction people will go but I generally stay away from QBs, even the studs unless they fall a little. I've done mocks from 1.9 and 1.11 and it's funny, both drafts I took Lacy. But if you're read any of my offerings I tend to go RB even though I know I shouldn't. Going WR at 9 and getting a stud really seems like the way to go this year, even though I don't follow my own advice...

If Manning is gone by 1.9, I think your best bet is a WR at that spot. Trends seem to point to it being important to come out of the first two picks with at least one stud WR if you can. So Thomas at 1.9 is a good pick. You may also have your pick of Julio, Marshall, Bryant as well. Ball is probably a little too early there, but he very well could have a season making him worthy of a first round pick. He "should" be there for your second pick so maybe you could gamble with one of the other WRs and then get Ball at 2.4?

Scott, if Lacy and the top 4 RB's aren't available at 1.09, would you even consider a RB at that spot? With Ball the likely RB6, Ball + Brown/Julio/AJ doesn't sound as assuring as Demaryius/Dez + Giovanni/Foster/Murray.

This particular league is 6pts per passing td, so QB's have some additional value. If Manning is there at 9, I may take him, but I have a feeling he will not be, so I wanted to be prepared. I'd be happy with Ball in the 2nd, as you said Albert, I don't want to reach on an unproven player, even if he has nice upside (which he may). Scout Scott - if Manning is there at 9 do you take him or still go WR?

I'm in the same spot you are, (9th spot in PPR). I'm not a fan of picking a QB until the 3rd round at the earliest, which would have to be either Manning, Brees, or Rodgers (which I'm pretty sure they'll all be gone before the 3rd round in my league). The reason I'm passing on QB's is because I have 4 point passing TD's, and I'd rather get my RB/WR/TE with my first 3-4 picks.

I expect the picks before me to be the top 4 RB's, Lacy, and Megatron. This leaves either Demaryius, Graham, or Dez. I plan on taking whoever is the left of the 3. I know 4for4 is high on Montee Ball, but after picking TRich last year at 1.09, I'm not a fan of picking an unproven player with my 1st rounder. I'm still weighing if I should bet on him with my 2nd rounder, though. I know I'll also have to consider Bernard/Foster/Murray, but I'm most likely going with RB in the 2nd round (unless I get one of the top 5 RBs with my 1st rounder).
