Wide receiver Roy Williams can expect increased scrutiny this week in practice when the Bears begin their Lake Forest portion of training camp Wednesday. Dropping a pass that would have been a first down and failing to catch any passes for the second straight week of preseason are only part of the reason.

Williams received instant appointment to starting status ahead of Johnny Knox, but Knox has three preseason catches, eight returns and generally has maintained a positive attitude about having his job handed to someone who hadn't earned it — even after being embarrassed into playing with fourth-stringers late in Monday's loss to the Giants.

Knox has also outplayed Williams in practices, and Williams brought even more upon himself by saying he might not be in the best playing shape for Mike Martz's offense, one which demands a lot physically of wide receivers.
