On Thursday, QB Colin Kaepernick revealed what everybody had already figured: The 49ers enact a regular-season plan to limit the number of opportunities defenses have to hit their quarterback.
“There’s a lot of chance for injury -- a lot of chances that you could lose your starting quarterback," Kaepernick said. "So it’s something our offensive coordinator (Greg Roman) talked to me a lot about. A lot of our coaches have to me talked to me, as far as, ‘Make sure you protect yourself and when we give you those opportunities to run, if you can get out of bounds, get out of bounds. If not, get down.’”
“When you get to the postseason, it’s one-and-done, if you’re not winning,” Kaepernick said. “So we’re going to do everything we can to try to win those games.”
