Colts WR Donte Moncrief out 4-6 weeks with a fractured shoulder blade

Wednesday, September 21, 2016, 11:51am

Ian Rapoport - [Full Article]

Colts coach Chuck Pagano says at his press conference that WR Donte Moncrief has a fractured shoulder blade. He’s out 4-6 weeks.

Related players: Phillip Dorsett, Jack Doyle, Chester Rogers, Quan Bray

Fantasy Impact:

Phillip Dorsett is the obvious beneficiary here since he'll serve as the team's WR2 while Moncrief is out. He'll be ranked as a fantasy WR2/WR3, depending on the matchup, so he's a priority add if he's out on the waiver wire. Chester Rogers played 32% of the snaps with Moncrief sidelined in Week 2, so it looks like he's the next man up. But when you add his snaps to Moncrief's (12%), 44% of the snaps does not constitute a full-time player. Instead, look for the Colts to play more two-TE with Dwayne Allen and Jack Doyle, who played 62% of the snaps on Sunday. The Colts may turn back to a three-WR base offense if they think Rogers is ready, but for now we think Doyle gets the next biggest bump after Dorsett. With this timeline, Moncrief is due back sometime around Week 7 to Week 9.

Colts wait for medical opinions on WR Donte Moncrief (shoulder)

Tuesday, September 20, 2016, 5:20pm

Indianapolis Star - [Full Article]

The Colts are awaiting additional medical opinions on the shoulder injury sustained by wide receiver Donte Moncrief in Sunday's game at Denver.

Those opinions will, the team hopes, help establish a timeline for long how the receiver will be out of the lineup.

Moncrief's injury occurred in the first quarter of a 34-20 loss to the Broncos. He did not return to the game.

Fantasy Impact:

If Moncrief is out of the lineup for any length of time, the Colts will have to lean heavily on Phillip Dorsett, who would become the No. 2 receiver behind No. 1 T.Y. Hilton. Moncrief's potential absence would mean an expanded role for backups Quan Bray and Chester Rogers.

Colts QB Andrew Luck (right shoulder) took full practice reps on Friday after being limited earlier in the week. Luck was removed from the IR on Friday so he’s in no danger of missing Week 2.

Colts WR T.Y. Hilton (knee) returned to take full practice reps Friday after missing practice Thursday. The Colts removed Hilton from the injury report. He’ll play in a bad matchup against the Broncos.

Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas (hip, questionable) took limited practice reps all week and is questionable for Week 2. Thomas was seen “grabbing his hip” and “grimacing” on Wednesday per Broncos beat writer Cameron Wolfe, though Gary Kubiak expects Thomas to play on Sunday. On Thursday, Thomas admitted that he’s concerned about coming out of cuts and getting hit. It’s a great matchup with the Colts, but Thomas looks like a risky play this week. Complicating matters, the Broncos play late on Sunday, though we currently expect him to play.

Colts QB Andrew Luck (right shoulder) was added to the injury report Thursday after taking limited practice reps. Luck should be fine to face the Broncos, but it’s a bad matchup.

Colts WR T.Y. Hilton (knee) was added to the injury report Thursday after missing practice. Hilton is a midweek downgrade with a knee issue, though it may just be a maintenance day. We’ll see how much he participates on Friday, though nervous owners in shallow leagues could pick up Phillip Dorsett as insurance.

Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas (hip) took limited practice reps again Thursday.

Titans acknowledge that TE Delanie Walker needs to be more involved

Wednesday, September 14, 2016, 10:34am

The Tennesseean - [Full Article]

In his Pro Bowl season of 2015, Delanie Walker averaged more than six receptions per game en route to a career-high total of 94. Things didn’t get off to nearly as good a start Sunday, however, as Walker was held to three catches for 42 yards. In fact, up until the final Titans’ drive of the day, Walker had just one reception for 6 yards.

Titans coach Mike Mularkey said the Vikings did a good job defending Walker but acknowledged the team should have found a way to get Walker more involved early. Potential good news for the Titans is that Indianapolis tight ends Jack Doyle and Dwayne Allen combined for seven catches, 88 yards and three touchdowns against Detroit.

Fantasy Impact:

Walker saw five targets in Week 1 after averaging 8.9 targets per game last season. It's good news that the team understands that he needs to be more involved. He should produce better numbers in Week 2, given what the Lions yielded to Dwayne Allen and Jack Doyle.
