Head coach Kyle Shanahan said on Monday that receiver Deebo Samuel may return to practice this week.

“Deebo, his ankle and knee are making real good progress, still working his way back,” Shanahan said on his conference call, via Jennifer Lee Chan of NBCSportsBayArea.com. “We’ll see how it goes in these next two days with rehab. I think there’s a chance possibly later in the week. We’ll see, though.”

The 49ers have clinched the NFC West but the team doesn't plan to rest any players heading into the playoffs. Still, if Deebo plays, not giving him a full workload at this point of the season would make some sense. Owners will want to keep track of his practice status this week as they head toward the fantasy finals, but he looks like he could be tough to trust in lineups.

Packers injury update: RB A.J. Dillon is being evaluated for a concussion.

Jones and Dillon ran all over the Rams, which included three TDs in the win - two of which came from Dillon. We'll have to see Dillon's status going forward this week leading up to Week 16's games, which is Christmas Day at Miami. After being unplayable in lineups this season, Dillon has turned it on a bit over the last few weeks. However he may be risky to wait on for owners as most of Week 16's games are Saturday.

49ers' rookie QB Brock Purdy, listed as questionable for tonight due to oblique and rib injuries, is expected to start vs. the Seahawks.

The living legend Brock Purdy will continue his improbable run in Week 15 in a great matchup against a leaky Seahawks defense that ranks 20th in schedule-adjusted fantasy points allowed. Purdy has been efficient with the ball through his two games, including a 76.2 completion% against the Buccaneers last week. No skill position players have necessarily seen a boost since he took over in Week 13, but RB options Christian McCaffrey (RB1) and Jordan Mason (Flex) can both be trusted in this matchup.

Kyle Shanahan said he was told Deebo Samuel's time frame to be out of action is "three-ish" weeks. Samuel has knee and ankle issues.

It's good news considering how the injury looked, as well as the aftermath - including getting carted off the field. Although it doesn't help fantasy owners for the upcoming playoffs, Deebo is expected to return for any playoff push the 49ers have, and of course, it's not a longterm injury.

Update from the 49ers: Deebo Samuel has a MCL sprain and an ankle sprain and he's expected to return at some point during the regular season.

This is a bummer for the team and fantasy purposes, as this impacts the playoff implications for both facets. If you don't have an IR spot, it may be a waste of a spot for Deebo if he isn't going to return before Week 17.

Per Pelissero, 49ers QB Brock Purdy is getting an MRI today on his injured oblique. Purdy got hurt on the game's second drive Sunday and obviously played well after it. So, not a lot of concern pending further tests. But a quick turnaround for Thursday night in Seattle.

The injuries keep mounting for San Francisco quarterbacks, as Josh Johnson is the only other active quarterback after being signed a week ago. Look for the team to call up Jacob Eason from the practice squad if Purdy's results come back with bad news.

The good news is that his ankle is not broken. But if it is indeed a high-ankle sprain, Samuel’s regular season is likely over. It would be a stretch for him to return in Week 18 and, more than likely, the 49ers would rest him for the playoffs. So fortunately it’s not too serious of an injury. But Samuel’s fantasy days for 2022 are just about over.

Early indications are that 49ers WR Deebo Samuel avoided a serious injury against the Buccaneers.

Samuel was carted off after having his ankle twisted but the early looks are that he will be okay. He’ll undergo more tests as a precaution. The 49ers have a short week coming as they play on Thursday against the Seahawks, so he should be considered questionable at best as of now. But fortunately, 49ers fans and Samuel fantasy owners look like they can relax a bit.
