Tatupu out for season with torn pectoral

The injury hits keep coming for the Seahawks with news that Lofa Tatupu suffered a torn pectoral muscle, ending his season.

Losing Tatupu will make the Seahawks more susceptible to the types of runs Frank Gore broke against Seattle in Week 2.

Tatupu had raised his level of play since returning from a hamstring injury. He was the leader of the defense and the player coaches trusted to make the right calls. With Tatupu out, rookie Aaron Curry becomes the focal point at linebacker and possibly for the defense.

But the Seahawks are worse off, no question. Replacement David Hawthorne has made strides, but Tatupu has a much better feel for the game.
